Anyone have a recent photo update of the Mummy ride? With the opening date almost a month away, Im wondering if itll be done in time. I want to start seeing what that "tent" outside is going to look like.. Hopefully it will have SOME themeing to it!!

So will they finish all of this in time? Seems like they have a lot left to do... Previews and soft openings should be starting in about a month, right?

seems like it should be ready by the set open date. the van helsing maze as of the week before it opened didnt even have the exterior done yet. so hopefully, the mummy interior is pretty much set and everything exterior shouldnt take long to finish up.
the only thing im worried about is the refurbishment of the ride once it does open. USH has a reputation for letting things go un-refurbed for a while. Take Jurrasic Park, countless times I have rode and half the effects havent worked, and have stayed like that for weeks even months at a time. so hopefully they can keep the ride up, seeing as it has effects unlike anything out there today and should need a hefty maintenence

JP has been kept up very well since it's 3 month rehab last year, even the jeep has been consistently falling :)

JP has been kept up very well since it's 3 month rehab last year, even the jeep has been consistently falling :) I rode JP on Mother's Day and the dinosaur that comes out of the water was still behind maintenance gates, just like it was 8 months ago when I last rode the ride. But everything else on the ride did seem to be working well.
However, I did note one very interesting thing. The cast at the gate did not check our lap bar and didn't even tell us to pull it down. So I'm in the front row and the boat takes off with the lap bar completely up. It wasn't until we started going up the steep grade in the final building that I was able to get it down at least one notch - no one else in the car knew better.
The Van Helsing maze was interesting, but nowhere as fun, detailed, animated, creative or intense as The Mummy Returns, IMHO.
The Mummy coaster looks like it will be one of the best rides to open in California since X at Magic Mountain.

If the lap bar is left up, as soon as you go up lift #1 ( as you leave loading area) it will come down. When you get to lift #2 before you enter the show building the steepness of the lift causes the lap bar to come down again. Of course if you have large people in your boat it wont click another notch but the big person can feel the pressure.
