View Full Version : How to save Walt Disney Studios
riding_big_thunder 05-06-2004, 12:24 PM Do you think that it is at all possible to save the new park? I've never been but it looks horendous. I think that the additions of these 4 attractions may make the park more enjoyable:
1. Mickeys Philharmagic- it's an instant hit.
2. Tower of Terror- well, its saved DCA.
3. Indian Jones Adventure from Disneyland- A really great ride thats based on a film.
4. Great Movie Ride- Im surprised they never included this in the first place.
Does anyone know what Disney intend to do to this park in the future?
innerSpaceman 05-06-2004, 03:40 PM bulldozer would be the only fix that will work.
Opus1guy 05-06-2004, 03:52 PM Lease the property to Universal Studios.
riding_big_thunder 05-06-2004, 11:05 PM Lol, I do agree, it is pathetic.
Olivier de France 05-06-2004, 11:23 PM What was disappointing to me the first time was the poor theming, so probably what is missing the most is a better theme, add more trees, alleys, etc... Make it look like a theme park :)
blondiemouse 05-07-2004, 08:54 AM I'll go with Opus1guy,other than that maybe a bulldozer. :crying:
raptor1982 05-08-2004, 08:36 AM djee... A bulldozer
Anyway... Yes, the great movie ride was planned to be builed for Disney-MGM studios Europe. And an Indiana Jones attraction too
Here are some concept-art pictures: http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=64

true dat, I dont like the idea of seeing other DisneyMGM duplicates (magic kingdoms, ok) but a hollywood-like theme park in a cold place like France is just crazy!
Olivier de France 06-21-2004, 06:36 AM a cold place like France
France is not the north pole ! :D :D :D
Anyway I'm quite optimistic for the WDS future, because with new funds (see refinancing plan), they will build new rides and probably new theming.
I know from reliable sources the Tower of Terror construction will be announced soon, many other surprises too. ;)
riding_big_thunder 06-21-2004, 08:43 AM I sure hope so Oliver, it is a total shame to see something with such a huge potential fall in it's first years of life. ToT, amongst others, are needed quickl to attract more visitors.
blondiemouse 06-21-2004, 09:48 AM Now I hate to get negative (again ) but TOT in that tiny silly little park, deary me.That thing is HUGE it will just dwarf everything else and make the park look worse. Please somebody see reason, develop the park abit first, make it bigger ,add other new attractions, leave TOT as a final piece in the jigsaw not a quick fix . Stick that thing in the park as it is now it will take up half the park !!!!!!! :crying:
Tutter 07-06-2004, 06:48 AM I am back from my first visit to the Paris studios and I was expecting it to be dire judging by reports.
I decided I would give it a morning - but it actually took until 4.30pm from first thing to get round everything.
The lack of themeing is the worst aspect but I was suprised at how good some of the attractions were. Notably Cinemagique which was very enjoyable as I knew nothing about it, Animagique was a good show. Armageddon I was expecting it to be more like Backdraft at Universal in LA so it was a little disappointing. Rock N Roller Coaster was fun. The studio tram tour was pretty dire to be honest, but the motor stunt show was impressive.
All in all the park was small but not as bad as some paint it.

I said it before, but I completely agree with your post, theming disappointed me the most, which was very surprising compared with its neighbour park DLP with its millions details... :)
I love everything else.
JEFFJAGUAR 08-13-2004, 08:51 PM I don't know their pricing currently. But not to allow park hopping for perhaps a 5€ surcharge on a 1 park ticket would probably increase revenue and bring people into the park.
To charge 2 separate admissions is asinine given the relative sizes of the parks and the fact that it is a schlep out there from Paris....
But their arrogance of not making it easy for people to see both parks on one visit is one of the reasons the park is stagnant.

Please don't think I'm obnoxious--I'm really an optimistic person--but those "new funds" technically don't exist. The Walt Disney Co. and EuroDisney just switched some funds around to avoid bankruptcy.
I think that WDS could survive if Disney pours money into it without stripping finances from other parks (especially DLP). How? Good question. So far, they've only poured money into resort hotels that hardly anybody uses. Just think... if Disney hadn't built two of those unneccesary DLPR hotels, at least one E-ticket and two D-tickets could have been added to WDS.
At this point, Disney is having a hard enough time saving DCA, which is another result of disastrous strategic planning within the creative divisions of the Disney Co. Without outside investor help, WDS will have to wait...and it's already a detriment to the lovely DLP.
