My husband and I are taking our 4yo and our 15 month old to Disneyland in a little over a week. I've been using the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland to develop a "game plan" for our day, but am having trouble finding information on exactly which rides are appropriate for our youngest daughter. I'd appreciate any advice. Right now, these are the things on our list-- Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Pirates of the Caribbean (?? too scary??) Circus Train, It's a Small World, King Arthur Carousel, Riverboat, Tiki Room, Autopia, and the Jungle Cruise.

It's been almost 10 years since I have been to DL... would the Mad Tea Party be too much or is it "controllable" to avoid too much spinning?

Have I left any "musts" out or included things that I shouldn't have? Thanks in advance for the help :)

First of all, I'd move Tiki Room down your list. It can get kinda loud, dark, and the thunder storm and the Tiki gods drumming and chanting can get overwhelming. Pirates is hard to say. It could be fine, but it varies from kid to kid. Usually my little ones are ok on it at that age. It's not until they're more like 2 or 3 that they get weary- because of the anticipation. 15-mo-olds dont' have as much anticipation for it.

Tea Party would be great. Right now they're hard to spin anyway. My boys love/loved Tea Party without spinning at a young age. (Spinning is actually important to the development of the inner brain. That's why kids love to spin on swings when you "Wind them up." Now you know. :) )

Rides/Attractions you've forgotten:

Tom Sawyer's Island
Astro-Orbitor
Alice in Wonderland
If you do well with Pooh and Alice, then Peter Pan
Then Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Disneyland Railroad
Tarzan's Treehouse

This article (http://www.mouseplanet.com/akrock/akrock26.htm) also has tips for taking a one-year-old to DLR.

Thank you so much, Adrienne! That's exactly the information I was looking for :) I appreciate your articles too... they have been very helpful in our preparation for the big trip.

I believe Alice and Peter Pan are closed for refurbishment so that's why I omitted those. I will definitely add your other suggestions to our list and see how much we can squeeze into one day while still keeping it fun for everyone.

Thanks again!

POTC my DD loves that ride.the only part that bothers her is the dark and drop at the begining. What I do is hold her in my lap and talk her though it so she knows I'm there and holding her.All the rides with no limit she has been on except the spinning tea party one (I can't spin.Beside CM don't want to clean up after me).She loves to point and talk bout the things she sees. She has even done Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin and loved it.Lots of action but if your like me can't take the spin.Hope you got muscles.Hope this helps ya

my son is 14 mos, and the only ride he gets scared on is snow white. i think he has done almost everything else that doesn't have a height requirement. the trees in there scare him. HTH.

Do I need to bring my list, or are they already posted by the rides? I hate to have to bring the list and have to go thru it every time we come to a ride, my memory stinks so I would hope they have it posted near all the rides the require 40 inches or smaller? Pleaseee say the requirements are posted .....

In the free guide map that you can get at the main gate when you enter either park it will have a list of all the attractions, if they have a height requirement. They are also listed at each attaraction. The attractions with height requiremetns also have measuring bars where the CMs will measure your child if they may not be tall enough for the ride.

My husband and I started playing Disney videos and cd's for our son before we took him to Disney when he was 16 months old. We took our son on almost everything we could and just had so much fun with him. We talked about the rides and laughed and pointed out things and just did not allow him to have a chance to be scared...He loved the Haunted M., Pirates, Snow White, etc.....Just feel your child out and never talk about your child being scared of the dark, water, etc..just have fun..make the characters fun even the evil ones. No book or person call tell you what to do...Have fun.

Hey ID mom, I am an ID mom too! What part of ID are you in?

We went in May, my boys were 10 months and 32 months. My 10 month old went on:
Pirates
Casey Jr
Dumbo
Storybook Land
Mr Toad
Pinnochio
Small World (which he loved)
Car Toon Spin
Jungle Cruise
Tarzan's Tree House
Carousel
Tea Cups
Pooh

at DCA
Carousel
Ferris Wheel

I think you will find lots to do for your little one. The Playhouse Disney Show at DCA is a must!
My oldest had his first trip at 13 months and went on just about the same rides, with the exception of Pooh because it was not built, and the carousel was under refurbishment.

ENJOY!
