Due to being disgusted with Eisner, etc....I swore I wouldn't put any more money Disney's way until they restructure and become half of what they used to be. BUT, now that DCL is coming to the WC I'm considering going back on my vow....ughhhh.
Question 2 is does anyone care to guess what the pricing will be like considering the port is going to be nothing like the Disney port in Canaveral, and there will be NO stopping at the best day of the cruise, CASTAWAY CAY???? Not only was that the best day of the cruise, the barbecue was the best food during the whole cruise as well. I'm not sure how the WC cruise will compare without Castaway Cay.

I'm taking the wait and see approach even though I live in Arizona and have relatives in Southern California to wave to from a ship.
I, too, am particular about things I have spent a lot of money on and don't want to be disappointed or frustrated. If you are really game on going on the cruise, I would take the last Mexican Riveria cruise and certainly not the first. That way, DCL has a chance to work out most of the bugs before you get on board.

I wouldn't feel guilty -- I did the same thing in February. I hope that since the DCL on the West Coast being so popular Disney would put a ship out here all the time.
Now that the prices are out we know the answer to question 2. It is possible that Disney could buy some land in mexico -- not an island because I don't think there are any to buy -- and turn it into its own port. but this is probably a long ways off.

I say don't feel guilty. I say go and have a great time. I feel this way about dumping money into the company that seems to be on the wrong path a lot of times. But when my happiness and my little family's happiness is on the line, I go for what makes me smile.
I think the DCL won't be as fun because there's no island, but I'm hoping there will be some sort of draw to doing the West Coast thang on their boat. I'm hoping any way.
I say go have fun.
And don't get seasick.

I'd rather you feel guilty about buying stuff you don't want but feel compelled to by some unnatural forces. (Like going to every Disney movie released, for example, just because it's Disney.)
This DCL on the WC is a good idea and should be rewarded appropriately. I'm betting it will be expensive, but not enough so that it won't be sold out.

We had an inside room booked, but it was more than our verandah room that we had in March. I didn't see the sense in it. I'll wait till they come to the West coast for good and the prices go down. We are taking a road trip to Craters of the Moon and Yellowstone instead!
