View Full Version : Disney Cruise finally coming to Los Angeles?
awinner 05-01-2004, 10:14 PM I saw this link right here (http://www.mousesavers.com//dclca.html) and I hope it is true...but when I called DCL today, they said all the rumors are lies and don't trust anything you here. He would not tell me where the Disney Magic was going to be and to wait for info which leads me to believe that he was the one lying
shawnarae 05-03-2004, 08:50 AM Today in our local newspaper in Phoenix (Arizona Republic Newspaper) there is an artcile that says for 12 weeks next summer starting in May 2005 there will be 7 day cruises to Mexico for the 50th Anniversary. Here is the link:
http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/0503Disney-Cruise-ON.html
So with a formal press release I'd say it is for sure ;)
Not Afraid 05-03-2004, 09:35 AM Here's another announcement. (http://www.telegram.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040503/APF/405030564)
I'm not a big fan of cruises, but leaving from a port 10 minutes away might make me go.
Disneyphile 05-03-2004, 01:51 PM Woohoo!!!!! I wonder when reservations start???
I'm definitely going. :fez:
awinner 05-03-2004, 02:52 PM very happy here,,,very happy!!! :D
awinner 05-03-2004, 02:57 PM Just called DCL, can book cruise after 1pm this wed.
For clarification, that's 1pm EASTERN time. 10 am for those of us on the West coast.
So, tickets will go on sale during the local announcement.

Niwel 05-03-2004, 09:24 PM The Magic is a wonderful, beautiful ship. I hope all West Coasters who wish have the opportunity to cruise Disney-style (especially you, Not Afraid). The ports are lovely (excellent snorkeling). And people on other cruises always take tons of pictures of DCL when it comes into port.
They'll probably have a Mexicalifragilistic Party (don't miss it up on deck).
I liked having an outside cabin (cabin with a HUGE porthole) so you can tell the difference between night and day -- but based on how much time you spend in your cabin (most people just use it to sleep and change) will determine if you feel you should get a verandah.
Everyone gets a character breakfast; there are special DCL-only pins; the shows are so great (especially Disney Dreams and the Golden Mickeys) and where else can you find a horn that plays "When You Wish Upon a Star"?
Ah memories....
Tony and I are planning to book the WDW - DL repositioning cruise, and we're giong to try for a stateroom with an balcony so we can enjoy the trip through the Panama Canal from our room.

oohykitten 05-04-2004, 10:47 AM Starting 5/5 @1pm PST they will start taking reservations. They have no idea what dates and how much the cruise will be as of yet. There will be 12 trips, with the ship carrying about 26,000 guests. The 7-day cruise can be held on a credit card for 7 days with no payment. Afterwards a deposit of 250 per person is due.

dsnylndmom 05-04-2004, 12:35 PM I am SO there! If the dates on mousesavers are on target then I'll be able to cruise on my birthday next year! Woo Hoo So there so there :p
Disneyphile 05-12-2004, 02:07 PM I'm going!!! Woooohoooo!!! My mom put down deposits for her and my dad in one cabin, and then my boyfriend and me in another for June 4-11, 2005. :D This will be my very first cruise, and what better way than on DCL!!! :fez:
mad4mky 05-12-2004, 02:58 PM My husband and I cruised The Disney Magic a few years back. It is indeed a beautiful ship. :)
My husband deals with ships of all kinds on a daily basis for his work...and he says that this is one of the finest ships he has ever seen/been on. I agree 100%.
No one who books should be disappointed on the ship. And...of course, being a Disney Cruise...well...it'll be wonderful. I can already hear my children bugging me about going on a cruise...once they get started out here on the west coast.
only1mouse 05-12-2004, 08:59 PM I'm booked on the last trip before the ship returns to Florida. Although, others have stated how expensive it is, I've never been to Mexico, or on a cruise and have always told everyone I know that if Disney brings the cruise line to CA I would be on one of the first ships (again, it's the last during this time period, but still!!!) I'm very excited, I don't care about the cost. I live in Oregon, have been to both WDW and DL and am looking so forward to DCL next year. It will be a great adventure for my kids, husband and myself. It cant' come soon enough!! My husband laughs because we are leaving for Hawaii next Saturday and I'm already acting as though that trip is done because I'm sooooo excited, and can't stop talking, about the cruise in 15 months!!!!
Karin 05-13-2004, 07:09 PM only1mouse, my husband and I are booked on the last cruise before it returns to Flordia, too! We should meet up and say hi, have drink, whatever! We're both so excited, too. My husband told me the other night that he wished the cruise were THIS year instead of next year! It's so true! :p
only1mouse 05-13-2004, 07:33 PM Karin - sounds great. What as we get closer we'll have to set up a meeting place. I, too, wish it was this year!!
endkaos 05-15-2004, 08:17 AM I have an Western Caribbean cruise booked in October that includes airfair from Phoenix. When I heard about the Mexican Riveria cruise on the west coast, I decided to get a quote. Without airfair or transfers, the cruise was almost $1,000 more than the Western Caribbean cruise with air and transfers. I'm sure its just because the cruise itenary is new and they haven't worked out the "bulk" deals yet. I would love to take the Panama cruises, but 14 days is out of the question for hubby. One word of caution for those on the Panama Cruises, Bonine, Bonine, Bonine. Ok so that was 3 words, but going from the Atlantic to the Pacific is not an easy cruise. Just ask the crew of the Lady Washington. (Diary of a ship,Pirates of the Caribbean DVD).
