With the new vB 3.0, is it possible to delete a post? With the new system, I get a long of hangs and often have uncertainty as to whether a post made it in. Consequently , I end up with duplicate posts.

Is there a way to get rid of that duplicate post, or should I just continue to edit them to say "duplicate post"?

You could always check the thread to see if it made it before posting again.

Yeah, I know that (and I am being more diligent about it), I just wanted to know if there was a wy to delete a message for those times that I did screw up.

No biggie - just wondering

When you go to reply again, doesn't it show your post beneath the text box?

I just wanted to know if there was a wy to delete a message for those times that I did screw up.We *can* delete posts, but we don't. Even when a member violates our policies with a post so obscene it can't be allowed to remain on display, all we do is remove the text of the post from public view. The ONLY time we outright delete a post is when we do a thread pruning to reduce the size of the database.

We consider this to be an issue of integrity - for good or bad, what you do and say on these boards remains here for everyone to see.

I use the "back" button a lot in navigating the pad and find the lag time has tripped me up too.

But instead of chaning it to "Duplicate Post," I think you should find other creative uses of your "bonus" post - "I like Pie" is always a favorite - or maybe even initiating a counter argument to your last post might be fun. Besides, it increases your post count.

We *can* delete posts, but we don't.We have deleted obviously duplicate posts, but only if it's identical and obviously a duplicate. And only when we notice [read: we rarely notice]. That's a technical issue, not an editorial one. We never delete for editorial purposes, as AVP said. :)

We have deleted obviously duplicate posts, but only if it's identical and obviously a duplicate. Hmmm...... I must have been on Hiatus when that happened.

Hmmm...... I must have been on Hiatus when that happened. In my memory I think I've only done it once or twice. :D
