For some reason I thought this was only going to be a Florida thing... GC CoasterMatt 04-23-2004, 07:36 AM Hollywood's opens June 25, I believe the opening date for Florida's is May 21. Both rides feature a ride system built by Premier Rides, animatronics and effects by Technifex (http://www.technifex.com/); but have some storyline and scene differences. fccabs 05-05-2004, 04:39 AM someone from my office visited universal orlando about 2 weeks ago and said that The mummy was opened while they were there. Said it was great fun but not very long XHarryB 05-05-2004, 07:18 AM They had it open off and on for "dress rehearsal", but they have since closed it so they can finish adding the last few effects. I just read this morning that they may briefly have it soft opened again as early as next week. Lost Boy 05-17-2004, 08:30 PM I was so looking forward to this ride coming to USH until I read on Al's column that we are not getting the two biggest effects in the ride. The false unload station and the fire on the cieling. Now I am not so exited to rush up and see this ride. Why Hollywood again. Why do we, both at Disneyland and Universal get the short shrift all the time? What did we ever do to deserve this, besides start the whole "Theme Park" business with Disneyland. I just don't understand it. And I read on Jim Hill's column today that Universal is trying to make itself look good to the new NBC/GE owners by keeping costs down. So they laid off the entire creative force that created the new ride. Now there is no one left except paper pushers to create new rides for Universal. I guess they took to heart the statement that NBC made last week in saying that they have no interest in running Theme Parks, and will try to rid themselves of all three Parks in the U.S. and the parks overseas as well. What a stupid bunch of idiots are now in charge of Universal? A TV station and a light bulb company! What a crock. |
