I posted previously asking questions about the GAC for my 6 yo DS, who has Asperger's and ADHD at the top of his list of conditions. Thanks again to all who responded, your advice was extremely helpful.

Just wanted to let you all know that we received our GAC without any hitches. I explained to the cast member in City Hall that DS is on the autistic spectrum and that being in crowds, especially lines, can make him violent, and I was concerned about the safety of other guests. We were issued a pass within moments, and DS even got a Disney Citizen sticker.

Cast members at rides were great, they got us on the rides either immediately or after a short wait. We even used it when DS was hungry and losing it, saying we needed a quick, quiet place to eat, and were told about a patio in CA that no one ever uses. DS was able to eat and get it back together.

Two bummers: I had been told on the phone that the pass would be issued Day 1 and would be good for the entire trip; at City Hall, they told me I had to come back each day (on Day 4, the Cast member recognized me and just made it good for the remaining two days). And on Indy, we were put in the Fast Pass line, which took over 20 minutes through the blinking lights and noises (plus an obnoxious teenager trying to "impress" his friends by scaring the beejesus out of a six yo), and DS was REALLY freaked out. I don't think we'll get him back on Indy anytime soon.

I never went through the process before, because I didn't know they did the GAC/SAP for kids like mine. As a first-timer, I was extremely impressed with Disney and how they handle it. I just wished we lived closer!

And a side note: Tours....."Star Tours" was DS' favorite ride, and the cast members were awesome!

Aww thanks that made me feel good that we were doing our job well :-)

I am very happy that you had a good experience! I was very concerned about the Indy line myself....I brought in my son last week and had to wait through a very large que and it was inclosed and he freaked out a bit because of the noise and sounds....He loves the ride but the line with all the people and the noise was just a bit too stimulating for him. Just some 411 tonight on dateline the are doing a special on Autism.
