..avoid going during Night of Joy?
I have a trip to WDW planned for Sept 4-11. How does this event impact the park? Does it make it WAAY busier? Close earlier?
We are getting 5 day hoppers, so I have a "free" day to do something else...maybe look around at all the resorts, etc.
Should I change my dates? Or is it not as big a deal as I am thinking it will be? Does the event take place at only one resort?
THANKS for your input!

The Magic Kingdom will close early on those nights. No other parks should be affected, though the MK will probably have larger crowds throughout that day. I don't know if it causes a larger crowd at the resorts or whether it's largely locals. Maybe someone who has attended will be able to shed some light on that part.

I think you have picked a perfect time to go. My husband and I spent 2 weeks at WDW last year and our time overlapped the Nights of Joy. The only problem with that is MK closed earlier. Crowds over all were very light. The longest we waited for anything was 20 min, and most rides had a 5 min line. In fact they even let us ride Splash Mtn over and over again because there was no one in line. Oh and the Night of Joy is only at the MK, so you will not even know it is there at the other parks. Go and enjoy!!! :fez:

We were at WDW during the Night of Joy in 1999. As Pineapple Princess indicated it was a slow time of year, so the special event really had no impact on the crowds, the only problem was that MK closed early. Oh, and the TTC was a madhouse, which would only be an issue for you if you are staying at one of the monorail resorts and decide to take the monorail to EPCOT.
