I think a common theme is to check out the other resorts- who knows, for your next trip you may want to stay part of the time there. I also have only been to WDW once so am jealous! But we were at Port Orleans (moderate) which was fun. So one thing might be to go there- there is "Ol Man island play area with fishing I think (I didn't make it but a friend with a 6 yr old liked it) and there is a little boat that goes to downtown disney from either the French Quarter or Riverside parts of PO. So again, not as a destination in itself- but a nice combo to go to the resort- play on the island and then take the boat to DTD for some good food (Wolfgang pucks cafe- the outdoors cheeper one, not the sit down restruant- was a great deal for us! Excellent Oriental salad and best Mac and cheese!). The only caution is that they are refirbishing parts of the PO resort- so you should check to be sure that Ol man island is still open- but I expect it is. And I particularly loved the boat ride back at night to the resort- in December the jasmine was blooming. I want to go back!!!!!!

We like to do that. It's interesting to see how the other half lives -- so to speak. We will definitely check out Fort Wilderness this time, but we have seen most of the others. We have stayed at P.O. in the past, but our favourite is the CBR so far.

Going back is what most hope for. Our whole family loves Disney, so when it comes to vacation planning either WDW or DL always seems to make the short list.

Things we do besides the parks:
Downtown Disney – This is how we always spend our first day, rent a pontoon boat and cruise the waterways, go for sundae's at Ghirardelli’s, bring the kids water shoes and let them run through the water fountain.

Fort Wilderness – Trails End dinner buffet (go on Wild Wednesday for unusual meats like buffalo and venison, my 6 and 3 yr old loved the buffalo rice), take a walk on the beach or play in the sand, stop by the petting zoo, watch Electric Water Pageant Parade (usually passes Ft Wilderness around 9:30 depending on Fireworks schedule) or take the bus to Chip ‘n Dale Campfire sing-a-long (marshmallows extra $$).

Polynesian Resort – We always have a character breakfast at Ohana (everything is served family style and the kids get to form a little parade around the restaurant), ride the monorail loop before leaving (even if we aren’t going to MK that day).

Boardwalk Inn – Rent a surrey (4 person, $20 per ½ hour) take a ride around the lake.

Two weeks and counting!

Any other ideas we should consider?

We will be staying at the Pop Century. Are there day trips/shuttles available to USF, IOA, and KSS??? If so, how much? Is it worth it?

Thanks,
John

It depends on your interests...

USF? Universal Studios? If you have been to the one in California, then do not bother. I like California much better.

IOA? Islands of Adventure? Yes, if you like roller coasters.

KSS? If it interests you, then renting a car for the day would probably be the best way to go. It is about a 75-90 minute drive from WDW.
