I really enjoyed the World's Fair and Haunted Mansion retrospective audio collections, and am intrigued about this one. However, as was the case last time, my ISP lacks usenet support (I'm assuming that that's where these tracks can be found). I remember some kind soul made the tracks available in his web space; any chance anyone'd be willing to do that this time around, or find some other way of making these things available to those of us who can't get to 'em ourselves?

So where does one find these songs and such online? I remember reading the original article a while back and it really caught my interest. I did search after search online and was unable to find these retrospectives and would LOVE to listen to them, as I'm sure others would as well.

Might could burn them onto a cd for ya for info the links.

I too would be interested in knowing about where these can be obtained.

I think I found them in a newsgroup. I'm at work now but I think that it was alt.binaries.disney parks or something like that. Problem is that they are all listed in binary code..... anyone smart enough to know how to translate that binary code into MUSIC? <G>

THE FRUSTRATION CONTINUES...

:D

Gah! I'd like these, too, but I've had no luck. And I can't even locate "alt.binaries.disney"...

So it looks like everyone here wants these files but nobody can get to them. How frustrating!

Ok.. here's where I found the location of the songs.

You have to sign up to newsgroups.. and it's different each way depending on your ISP. Easiest way is to contact your ISP to find out how to sign up. Comcast gave me directions to log on. You can also sign up for newsgroups through various online ways. Do a google search for newsgroups.

Ok..

Once you get a listing of newsgroups, do a search on Disney. You should find a lot of newsgroups with Disney in the name. The ones I've found with the songs are:

alt.binaries.multimedia.disney

alt.binaries.multimedia.disney.parks

alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.disney

Ok.. so now my problem is.. once I find the newsgroups, the songs are there, but not in a way to play anything. I think it's the computer script or code (and I'm not very computer literate" and you have to have a program of such to be able to decode it. THAT'S where I'm having the problems.

SO

If anyone gets to where I am and can help me get further.. PLEASE let me know!!

I believe you need a MIME reader, but I'm not sure. What ISP are you going through, and what program are you using to view the newsgroups?

First of all, you're probably using Outlook Express, and Outlook doesn't support some of the compression techniques in use on the newsgroups. Find a good newsreader like Agent or if you want a simple reader, try "Grabbit" (do a websearch, it's free). These programs will put the posts together and recreate the original files (MP3, video, whatever).

Of course, you need Newsgroup access and you can get the information for your Newserver from your ISP. Some ISP's don't support them, (like AOL only supports text groups, for instance). Good luck!
