View Full Version : My new favorite Home Page
dustytraveler 04-01-2004, 09:55 PM I found a fantastic Home Page site. The best part is that unlike yahoo or MSN, it doesn't limit the amount of content and does not use pop-ups or banners! Sign up, customize, recolor, change the font, add the content you want, change the logo, add your favorite links. I'm so glad to be rid of MSN.

To enjoy it, you really need to get in there and customize it.
MonorailMan 04-01-2004, 10:01 PM No site shall replace the MousePad Lounge as my Home Page. :) :p
(It really is the vortex! I found that every time I came on MP, I always clicked "Lounge" first, and just set it as my Home Page instead.) :D :geek:
Not Afraid 04-01-2004, 11:45 PM I have Google as my homepage. I think I go to Google more than MP even.
cemeinke 04-02-2004, 12:12 AM My home page is a blank explorer page - don't have to wait for anything to laod and I can use my favorites to take me where I fancy. I do use the Google toolbar, so I guess that's there when I open.
stan4d_steph 04-02-2004, 07:00 AM I've had Google as my home page for a while now. I do a lot of searching so it's the most convenient for me.
dustytraveler 04-02-2004, 08:09 AM Steph and NotAfraid, check it out anyway. The very top center of the page is a Google search window. But you should really consider using the Google Search bar (which you can download from Google). Then you can set your Home Page to whatever you want.

-DT It looks a lot like My Yahoo. I wonder if they won't get into some problems with looking almost exactly the same. It has some interesting features, and the no pop-ups is definitely a bonys. I actually have the Google toolbar because it blocks pop-ups.
Not Afraid 04-02-2004, 09:40 AM I'm in the process of checking it out. It almost has too many features for me to like. There's something about the soothing white space of the Google page that makes me happy.
I'll use it through the weekend. I've customized it a bit, but I'm not real happy with the news link options. I tend to get most of my hard news in one place which is not an option here. Maybe we should create a home page for the Limosine Liberals.;)
That's actually not a bad idea. If I could turn on my streaming radio from my home page, plus got to the top 10 sites I read regularly, then I'd be a happy camper.
Moonliner 04-02-2004, 09:56 PM Not Today.
Not Tomorrow.
But Tuesday!

Simply set your links on "My Way" to your favorite sites. That is what I have done. You can drag and drop the links to the top of whichever column you want. I even created folders for the types of links I use: Disney, Work, Shopping, etc.
As for the news, just click the edit button on the news section and select or deselect the news you want/don't want.
I've even removed the MyWay logo from the top and replaced it with my own. Cool

Kevy Baby 04-19-2004, 04:12 PM WOW: it looks EXACTLY like http://www.excite.com (which I use for my homepage).

Well, it can look just like excite. But the key to myway is that you can make it look and act more the way you want it too. 2 or 3 columns. You pick the colors and backgrounds. No limit to the amount of content. I outgrew MSN and Yahoo because they limited the number of news and features that I could sign up for. I've never used Excite, but will take a look.
I'm just so tired of pop-ups and ads on every page. Those new ones that are animated on the page itself and cover up all the text for a about 10 seconds before going away, really bother me.

I've been using it for a couple of years. I also use the portfolio section to watch my 401k value go up and down each day - not for the faint of heart
