I'm trying to create an Excel formula that represents the following progression where if A is x or y (it will always be an integer, no decimals) then B is z (the number I ultimately need is z): A B
1-2 6
3-4 7
5-6 8
7-8 9
9-10 10
11-12 11
13-14 12
15-16 13
17-18 14
19-20 15
etc.I've been looking at this for an hour now and I can't seem to come up with a way to mathematically represent this. I don't want to use an array because this needs to go on indefinitely. I'm sure there are folks much more adept at math and/or Excel. I hope I have explained this sufficiently. If not, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification(s).I can send chocolate to the person who helps me solve this dilemma. :)

Thanks In Advance

How about:

ROUND((a/2),0)+5
