Far be it from me to admit a search function problem ;) but something is screwy.

I tried to search for the "Keep this thread at the top" thread by putting in keep AND thread and clicking the "titles only" box. What I got was a ton of threads with the word thread in the title.

I guess the boolean AND doesn't work in a title search? I tried it without the AND and got the same results. I tried just keep and got nothing. I know I'm not crazy, there was a thread called "Keep this thread at the top", and I took a look at it only a couple of days ago.

I tried using 3 search terms keep AND thread AND top* and then it would give me the following error:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/mousepad.mouseplanet.com/search.php on line 409

I tried using just thread and top*, but still nothing.

I tried a million other things. I know I just saw the thread while digging around the other day....I know I did!!!

Here is the thread (I think) you were looking for: http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3247&highlight=keep+thread.

I found it by putting "keep thread" as the search string, titles only and then chose "sort by: number of replies" (descending). That thread came up #1.

That still doesn't answer your question about boolean searches here on the Pad though :(

Thanks Kevy! :)

I am still interested as to what the deal is with the search.

The search feature inherent to vBulletin (the software used here) is rather limited. To get the kind of boolean searches you are looking for the mousepad crew would have to add in something like:

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?&threadid=62282

Of course I don't know what back-end database they are using so this might not be an option.

When I search for multiple terms, I just type them all in the search box and don't use any conjunctions. This will typically get you what you're looking for.

I tried your search with the new software. Looks like you can now do phrase based searches. I put quotes around the phrase I was looking for:

"keep this thread"

selected the Titles option and it worked like a champ. The booland AND and OR don't seem to work however.
