I wanted a meta-messenger so I could be on Yahoo and AIM at the same time. So I downloaded Trillian per Andrew's suggestion elsewhere on the boards.

I don't like it. I want all the perks of using Yahoo (my main messenger). I can't see user statuses unless I put my mouse pointer over the user's name. The emoticons they have are ugly IMO and not all of them work (others send me certain emoticons and all I see is text, while I have different, useless emoticons that they can't see either). Plus, I sent someone something using the "<" character, and they saw "&It;".

Lame. No hard feelings, Andrew. :p

Are there fixes for these problems? Or is there a better meta-messenger I can get that will let me do everything?

Well, you could always just download both Yahoo and AIM. Thats what I did. Seems most of the meta-messengers don't support advanced features like Webcams and Audio convos.

I would use one of these programs IF all of the features of YIM were available.

As it is, you wanna talke to me, get a YIM account.;)

Wow.....I just downloaded YIM for the first time in almost a year. I can't belive how much better it is than AIM. Now I just have to go through and add MousePadder's IM addresses to my buddy list so I can bug them even when they are not on MP! :~D

I used trillian and liked it, but I downloaded IMnapper, and I get to use the original IM programs - but they're all open and manageable in this application. It's very nice!

there also is GAIM and Miranda which are META messenger programs.

Personally, I use trillian Pro 2.0 and it is well worth the money, supports more features than the basic version.

Also, CP, the emoticons within Trillian are dependent on the skin you are using, the default one does not offer alot of emoticons, but download other skins and you will see more.
