Okay,

I have heard some rumors floating around about plans to bring a cruise line to California. For those who might be in the know, what might be the ports of call? Has Disney quietly bought an island to replicate the Castaway Cay experience?

Have a super day!

Nothing confirmed yet -- just a lot of wishful thinking due to an inability to book on one of the ships in summer of 2005....

There are no "islands" Disney could occupy on the West Coast -- so they would either have to forgo that part of the trip or take over some land in Baja or farther South, redo it and turn it into a private resort.

Actually it has been confirmed that California will be getting a Disney Cruise ship. And there will be cruises to alaska as well as Hawaii. You can find information on the cruises at the Grand California Hotel, just to the left of the check in desk. There is a replica cruise ship model in a case and brochures on the cruises underneath.

Do the brochures specifically say "California?" or are they just the ones for the East Coast in the hopes that more people in the West would fly out?

We just got back from the 7-day on the Magic. We were talking to the guy working in Cove and he said that there would already be a Disney ship on the West coast had it not been for 911. He said that plans were being made and they were really going strong until 911 and that really put everything to a halt. Then all the unrest in the company, etc. made it even worse. He said that he does expect it to happen soon. Two of the questions that they asked at the end of our cruise was,...would you be interested in a 10 day cruise and would you be interested in a Disney cruise out of the West Coast to Alaska or Mexico?
