mamabot 02-19-2004, 12:06 PM Since no one else has started the thread, and I am so excited about having a weekend to myself for the first time in years, I shall be the one to start the party, I mean Potluck thread.
The first order of business is: Who will be bringing the cups?;)
stan4d_steph 02-19-2004, 12:14 PM Is this a noon potluck?
"He who brings the drinks, brings the cups."
mamabot 02-19-2004, 12:31 PM When: Saturday, March 27, 2004
Time: High Noon
Where: Disneyland Picnic Area (next to the DTD Mickey & Friends Tram Drop off location)
Anyone want to volunteer their culinary talents?
Bluepeople 02-19-2004, 12:33 PM I will bring veggies and fat free dip. I'll even post the weight watvchers points. :) Except... I don't have a team! :(
Andrew 02-19-2004, 12:33 PM Jennifer & I can probably be there, but we will likely be late due to family obligations that morning. I'm not sure what we'll be bringing but it will be Atkins-friendly.
Bluepeople 02-19-2004, 12:51 PM Andrew- I'll try to bring lo-carb dig, too. Any suggestions?
Morrigoon 02-19-2004, 01:03 PM Not sure what I'll be bringing.
Not Afraid 02-19-2004, 02:41 PM Go Michelle!!!!!!!!
I need to check commitments and calendars. If we go, we'll bring a salad. It will probably be low in WW points - all you non-carb people can pick the carbs out.:~D
GusGus 02-19-2004, 08:22 PM If Kevy Baby and I come, I will bring something loaded with fat and calories and real butter just for those of us who don't give a crap what we look like!:p
Morrigoon 02-19-2004, 09:01 PM Yay!
Demigod121 02-20-2004, 08:33 AM I will bring a crockpot full of little sausages smothered in Bullseye BBQ Sauce.....YUM!

Cadaverous Pallor 02-20-2004, 06:44 PM :crying:
I wish I could go, but there's no way I'm not seeing my mom that day....her birthday is the 28th, and getting to MA at all is a lucky thing.
Have fun, take lots of pictures, and talk to all those Padders you've never met! :)
Morrigoon 02-22-2004, 05:10 PM Just as an FYI... they're fencing off for the bag check differently- the picnic area is now inside the bag check. So no sharp stuff- precut what you bring.

By the way, I know we're on the list but I want to make sure you guys know we will not be there by noon--more likely 1:00 PM.
Morrigoon 02-22-2004, 06:32 PM True, but eating utensils can be plastic. I'm talking more along the lines of not bringing your super-spiffy kitchen knife to cut a cheesecake. Plastic is our friend.
MonorailMan 02-22-2004, 09:27 PM Grumbling:
Lousy work, *But could get the time off*
Lousy 89 mile trip, don't want to have mom drive it twice.
And I so want to go! :crying:
Morrigoon 02-22-2004, 10:22 PM Thinking I may bring a boysenberry coffee cake

Andrew- I'll try to bring lo-carb dig, too. Any suggestions? Of course it depends greatly on how far along a person is on the plan, but here's a general rule of thumb: No sugar, and no starches. Veggie trays of most sorts, meat of any sort, cheese of any sort -- should be fine. Buffalo wings are great, as are things like El Pollo Loco. Salads are OK as long as you don't add the dressing or croutons beforehand. Macadamia nuts or almonds are OK, too. Also, diet soda, preferably sweetened with Splenda/sucralose instead of Nutrasweet/aspartame.

Not Me!!
I'll have to check my calender, and only commit to something on one would miss, like a desert perhaps!;) (Or maybe a roll of duct tape just in case)
Ghoulish Delight 02-23-2004, 08:20 AM It's doubtful that CP and I will be able to attend this potluck. But I did want to point out something very important.
Due to the new bag-check system that is in place, it is not possible to get to the picnic area without going through the bagcheck. They have blocked off the tram-side entrance, so the only way in is from the esplenade. This presents a problem in that I doubt they will allow knives and forks through. Plastic knives, maybe. Who knows. I'll assume they'll be okay with the food sicne you should still be allowed to leave food in the outside lockers to eat in the picnic area. Just something to keep in mind, and something someone might want to inquire abot or experiment with before the day of.
Demigod121 02-23-2004, 08:34 AM My wonderful wife may also contribute her famously garlicky Deviled Eggs to the fray.
They are known throughout the world for ending friendships and relationships due to creating horrendously bad breath!
(Read: a LOT of garlic in them eggs!)
-Demigod
(But they're sooooooo good!)

Maybe someone should call the resort and find out just how strict they will be for the picnic area.
Ponine 02-23-2004, 09:02 AM Then bring that recipie Demigod... my dh loves deviled eggs, and garlic, but I make the WORST deviled eggs.
okay, okay.. I'll bring cups.

HBTiggerFan 02-23-2004, 09:49 AM I'm not sure what I'll bring, but it won't be Atkins friendly.
