I just downloaded the Google Toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/) from Google.com.
I like it.
It blocks pop-ups. For free.
Anyone else trying it? How many toolbars do you have on your screen?

I've been using it for awhile. It's the only toolbar I use - I think. (I don't see any other ones up there.) So far, it's blocked 3010 pop-ups. Yaaaaaay Google!

I just have the internet explorer toolbar, besides the popup blocking, what other benefit is there to having a seperate toolbar?

The Google window appears in the upper left. It's useful to me because I Google all the time. So instead of clicking to the sight or typing in the address, the window's already up there.
Other than that, I haven't figured all the other non internet 101 stuff out yet. :D

It also can help you find specific words on a page without going to Edit>Find
And if you use blogger, it has a direct to blog link :)

Wow. Mine just says '12 blocked pop-ups'. :D
Btw- I just reread my original post and it sounds like a commercial for Google. It's not. But I hate sounding that way. That's the irony. I truly hate ads that pop up on my screen so I sounded like an ad to combat the ads.

I work fo a company that does Technical Support Company that provides Technical Support for several ISP's and the Google Tool Bar is what we recommend.
It's free and it works! Who can argue with that?

I just installed it today, and it's working great so far. No more annoying pop-ups for me.

The search engine Dogpile has a popup blocker that's good, too.
Dogpile searches like 10 different search engines instead of just one.

You mean there are other search engines besides Google? ;)
None of the other ones even come close in my book. Except for, perhaps, Yahoo who had been using Google results but now has opted to use their own results which are supposed to be right on par if not better then google. (Yahoo changed it's search stuff pretty recently.)

I suggest using Mozilla Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It's a nice streamlined browser. Pop up blocking right out of the box, integrated, customizable search bar built in (I currently have 15 search engines installed), lots of extensions to customize the browser itself and tabbed browsing.
If you haven't used tabbed browsing you're really missing out.

For just random web searches Google is, of course, king. But I also have IMDB, Wikipedia, Dictionary.com, Amazon (US, Canada, and UK), Snopes, Game rankings, and a Transformer web page in my search bar. I just select which site to search, and middle click. The results open up in a new tab.
I've been surfing the web since 1996 and it's never been so fun.
