I just wanted to congratulate Alex on a great article written in plain English (for those in the investment industry, you'll see the irony in the term "plain English"). Heck, I spent ten years in the middle of huge institutional investors and mergers and acquisitions, and I still couldn't explain it as well as Alex did.

There's so much passion on these boards that I can see so many people "freaking" out because they don't understand what's happening or just automatically assume the worst.

It helps that you know the field and still say that. I've no particular education in the area and am persuing more from a "I think I understand this" than an "I know I understand this" which always opens the door for huge blunders.

I read both parts and can't think of how all the issues could have been explained better. Excellent article all the way around, Alex. Should be required reading before posting anything about the transaction in the Business thread.
