Greetings,

I am currently in the process of interviewing for a IT Management position with WDW Orlando. With today's acquisition news, what advice would you folks give me about pursuing this opportunity ??? Should I be concerned ??? Should I even think about continuing with the process ???

Thank you.

If there's a position open now, then there will be one if Comcast takes over.
You might want to discuss exit strategies in your contract.

Thanks for the reply. I'm just concerned with potential job overlaps and associated downsizing in the future if this combination was to happen ... would hate to take a job I was really after, only to find that I'd be back on the street in a year or so; especially when I have a stable job (but unhappy) right now.

Interview, and ask questions. You don't get an offer without the interview.

I probably wouldn't worry too much. Walt Disney World would likely continue as a whole entity and it would continue to have the same IT needs.

Redundancy and layoffs, if they did happen would probably be well down the road and tend to require MORE IT staffing, not less (at least during the merger process).

But it is hard so say without knowing exactly what kind of IT position it is.

Look, Disney is a powerful name to have on your resume. If you hate your current job, try for the Disney one, worst thing that happens is you re-enter the job market with Disney on your resume - you'd be amazed how many doors my dinky little DL job has opened for me in the "responsible employment" world.
