Comcast promises to restore Disney to former glory (http://media.guardian.co.uk/city/story/0,7497,1145983,00.html) - Guardian (UK), 2/11/04
QuikQuote: Cable giant Comcast said today its audacious £37bn bid for Disney would "revitalise" the company, saving up to £670m almost immediately and restore its ailing movie division and theme parks to their former glory.
Chief executive Brian Roberts, who announced the takeover bid because his approaches to under-fire Disney chief executive Michael Eisner were rebuffed on Monday, said the bid was a chance to "restore the Disney name and restore the Disney company to growth". And appealing directly to shareholders, he put what he hoped was a trump card on the table - reminding them the former Disney executive Steve Burke would be back at the helm should the takeover go ahead.
