Hey DisneyFan! If you go to the Web site, they've got a section set up just for teens! I think it's awesome that you're taking PE (so many schools now just make it an elective), and that you're getting a chance to exercise in your teens. If you can maintain it, you'll be in great health. Go for it! :)

If I join, does this mean in case of war I can join the National Guard but not actually attend?

Just checking...

Yay! Looks like we've got five people on Team MousePlanet so far!

Me
Hersheythecat (hershey -- if you want, you can change your member name to "hersheythecat" but it doesn't really matter; as the group admin it does make it easier to identify you, but that's no problemo).

Oh wait, Leap, you're there! Yay!!!

Let's make it SIX members! All right!

I know this sounds schmaltzy, but it REALLY makes me happy to see everyone getting active! All it takes is a comfy pair of sneakers (running shoes) and getting up off the couch (or in our case, away from the computer). Just a half-hour walk regularly will make SUCH a difference!

Hey, let's put it this way -- getting some walking in will mean being less tired when visiting the parks! Yay!

Yay yay! I'm so happy! :)

I logged today's workout. It's cool how it colors in part of the star for the week. I just wish I had started on a Monday!
One question about the log: where should I put ab work? Is it included in weight training? Would it be calisthenics?

Lani

Leap, I think I'd put it under weight training. :)

Wow, Lani, I just caught a whiff of this. It sounds pretty cool.

I like the MousePlanet idea....

I'll read more about it....

LOL I think I will refer to it as the MousePlanet challenge, though.

LOL I think I will refer to it as the MousePlanet challenge, though. :cool:You mean the President's Challenge? It's been around for decades; it supersedes any one particular president, so you don't have to worry about signing up for a program that refers to any one president. :)

That's funny!! I do find the more I work out the more scents I have...

LOL Ah, I didn't mean it that way but maybe I did??? :geek:

I do remember doing it in grade school. The challenge. But I didn't realize you had started it on here.

I am in training to run. Not too far but for me it is a big step. I don't really like running. It is just a way I am challenging myself.

Must sign up. Should I wait until you do the MousePlanet thing or can we transfer?

OK, I'm in, on the bottom level program. (But at least I'm in.) This week should pretty easy, using a pedometer at WDW should give me a really good count. After I get back, it may be tough going until I get that treadmill. At least it's a start.

I signed up, too.

Let's just hope I don't forget to register daily.... :geek:

So, we can compare our results but not see what everyone else is doing? That is fair.

Sort of fun. Makes me want to try each of the sports that I am intersted in and seeing what type of points I get.

Yeah, I like playing slot machines, too. To see what I can get.... :D

Thanks for starting this up, Lani!

I am actually in training to do the Bridge Run/Walk over the Coronado Bridge. Last year I walked it and it nearly killed me. This year, oh, I am about 75 pounds lighter....I hope to run the majority of it. But, coming up to the middle is all a hill and the onramp is a very steep upgrade!!! I won't kill myself but I am planning on definitely making up time on flatter ground.

Anyone else here done this particular event?

Did you have a Siamese twin they removed from your hip or something? That's amazing! What a super job! I'm so happy for you!!! :) :) Yes, losing weight really does make a difference for your body. Just imagine that your body had to carry 75 pounds on itself last year. Can you imagine carrying 75 pounds of lead weights with you? That's an awful lot. I haven't lost nearly that much, and I can really notice the difference.

LOL Actually, I think was more like 85 pounds! But yes, I can't imagine it now! I had only been on my program for about 7 weeks. And, it is because of that I am SO eager to see how I do! Last year I just wanted to finish. Now I've been run/walking 2 and 3 miles a day. Except Sunday. That is swapmeet day.

Oh, I am soo glad that they don't ask what we are INTAKING!!!

See, I found this bakery.....

Actually, in total, I have lost over a hundred pounds since last April I don't know if that 5lb thread is still up but I did meet my goal over my vacation~ I actually lost 5lbs. during my two weeks away! I did some bike riding in Yosemite, hiking in Tahoe {as well as locking myself in my room and doing my dancing} workout room in Monterey and Buena Park. Really encouraged Hubster and I to turn our garage into a workout room. And, to get better equipment.

But Lani, you have done things I would never even think to try~I remember you did the marathon at Disneyworld and are going to do it again???

MouseWife YOU SO ROCK!!!!!!!!

Please share your secret!!!!!!!!

LOL Seems I have the neighbors wondering, too. LOL I have had so many people stop me and ask me 'What the heck?" Even the mailman, one who subs and I don't see often {yeah, I am such a HouseWife} when I went to get the mail from him he started to hand it to me and then pulled it back 'You look different.....you've....lost weight?' I laughed, Yeah, a lot!!'

Secret. Hmm. Really just staying busy. I do exercise but I also eat a lot of fruit {still} and don't eat after 7. That helps a lot. I think that since I exercise in the evening that might do something, too. Actually, I exercise at the beginning of my day and the end.

HB, if you really want to know what I've done, I can PM you. I think it sounds rather boring but it did work for me. :)

I'm in - thanks to a prodding e-mail I received. ;)

I registered on the site when Lani first posted the link but I had done nothing with it. Now I've gone back and joined Team MousePlanet and I WILL log my workouts.

I started out on the Presidential Champions Program level because I'm between that and the Advanced Performance program (I average about 45 min 5-6 days a week). I'd love to bump my workouts to an hour or more but it's a time issue right now.

Stay motivated everybody!
