The themes of the TofR are meant to be celebrations of humankind's best nature. Apparently, Disney doesn't buy that. It builds the tallest float ever ("mine's bigger than yours') to promote a specific attraction at its amusement parks and, oh yeah, throws in a little "elevator' music (Get it?) to slip under the theme requirement. Such is their single-minded arrogance that the fact that their float could be interpreted by many to be a grim reminder of the national disaster of 9/11 was ignored.
Disney is a huge, financially powerful corporation that has clearly abandoned its roots. Growing up in Burbank, the fathers of many of my friends were the guys in the animation studio and the machine shop who under Walt Disney's leadership and encouragement built the Disney "brand.'
