On my last trip to EDL, innerSpaceman and I explored the Pocahontas Indian Village in Frontierland and found something interesting. At the very edge of the play area, there appears to be a skinny channel & long dock with a cabinet that had life preservers inside. It looked as though this area, at one point, used to be a dock for canoes like the one in Disneyland. I never heard of the canoes existing in EDL but I know that some rides, such as the Keel Boats, are closed indefinitely.
So here's my question:
Did Euro Disneyland ever have a canoe attraction like Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes in Disneyland ?

Tne Indian Canoes was the first attraction to go at DLP. It lasted just one year, as it was closed already on summer 93. :(
It was closed at the MK in WDW when i visited it. So i had to go up to Tokyo Disneyland to ride for the 1rst time. Too bad it's missing in ou resort as it was very fun to ride & a great way to have a new way to travel. After days of walking, it was terrific to make arms work a little. Not to mention it provide some hunkiest CM on the park ! :p

Thanks french mouse!
Do know why they closed ? Was it a safety or money issue ?

Ah, too bad. My visit was only a decade too late.
Fortunately, the Anaheim Disneyland canoe CMs are usually of the hunky variety as well. But I was really in the mood for EuroHunks while I was there in France. C'est la vie.

I don't have the official reason for closing it. Although I heard mostly is that guests were going too wild on the canoes. It led to several capsize and so they closed it. But at the same time, they started to save money thru-out the resort... Our keelboats are closed for several years too. And the whole aera is pretty quiet save during the Hallowen Festival. :(

It was closed due a high risk and a very small capacity... The hunky boys were transferred to Keelboats and the riverboats.
However the DLP CMs continued to race the canoes once a year for a couple of years after the closure of the conoes!
