Just curious as to how often I should defrag my PC. Every week? Month?

Oh, and another thing..... Does it really help your PC to run faster?

We defrag about every other month, or basically when we think about it. I don't really notice that much more speed, but my husband's convinced it helps, so we do it.

I was also curious on if it helped, so, I threw in my copy of Tron 2.0, and re-installed windows.

Load Time of Level 1 Before Defrag: 89 sec.
After Defrag: 87 sec.

While 2 seconds isn't that much, it does help.

I've set mine up, with Scheduled Tasks, so that it defrags if I'm away from my computer for more than 15 minutes. :)

Every month or so, whenever I think about it, I have Windows check to advise me if I need to Defrag the drive. Sometimes it doesn't recommend it, so I just wait a few weeks and It'll usually recommend it.

Once a month is a good rule of thumb on defraging. It is also adviced you should do a sort of spring cleaning at least once a year on your sxystem by removing old programs that are no longer used. Cracked the box and blow it clean.

Stuff like that.

Did some major "house" cleaning last night. I dumped a ton of old e-mails that I don't need anymore. We defragged, and the computer is STILL incredibly slow. Ugh. I don't know what else we can throw out. We went through all the programs and threw out what we don't use anymore.

Every time I get tangles.
