View Full Version : Disney Cruise Likes & Dislikes
shawnarae 12-23-2003, 12:28 PM List things you really, really like...or really, really dislike about your cruise :)
:) Likes: Kids' program (and the free shirt my son got while in the program), Room Service, Atmosphere, artwork on board (as well as the Disney fixtures), friendly Cast Members, Entertainment, towel animals and chocolates on my pillow at turn down, price for the cruise off-season, sit down dinner at Animator's Pallete (s/p) and cute shops!
:( Dislikes: Pizza on the pool level, the Bon Voyage party (too crowded), cost of bottled water & pop in room service, no character breakfast (or lunch or dinner) on 3 day cruises, ship to shore phone call prices, Nassau and there was one buffet that was not good at all. Beach Blanket something I think it was called. We left there and ordered Room Service!
Overall I loved the cruise & will be back ;)
Niwel 12-23-2003, 02:09 PM I went on a four-day ...
Likes: Fast check-in; dancing with Goofy on the Bon Voyage party; the "When You Wish Upon a Star" horn, Animator's Palate; the huge portholes; the massage in the cabana on Castaway Cay; Serenity Bay; Quiet Cove Pool; Disney Dreams (I cried); the other Disney fans at our dining room table; the shirt I bought on Castaway Cay with a picture of the Earth with a "glove" pointing to the Island; the trading cards; the talk by an Imagineer from Animal Kingdom; the animation class on drawing Mickey; the Disney touch everywhere.
Dislikes: Too short; no library; sunburn on the cay (guess that was my fault); nassau; that darn muster drill ;)
Overall: Likes outweigh Dislikes. Can't wait to go back!
shawnarae 12-23-2003, 03:39 PM I forgot about the horn...I liked that :) Very cute!
I also liked the daily newsletter telling you events for the day and shop hours (with any sales or discounts going on). Oh, oh and I LOVED the lotions and shampoos in the bathroom. I think the lotion was peach? Or something like that, looked English.
I think overall the general atmosphere does not make you feel like you are on a cruise boat. It's very comfy! Like you are staying at your own private little condo somewhere. I went on a cruise boat booked through Disney in the early 1990s before they had their own cruiseline. It was Premier Cruiseline ( I think?). Much different feel. Not warm at all. More like a hotel/hospital feel.
DCL is wonderful. 1st class all the way!
Anyone else???????

Changing dining rooms every night for dinner.:D
Adults only pool and activities...including the Palo restaraunt...and the private adult beach on Castaway Cay.
Room Service.
Beautiful ship.
Dislikes:
Not enough time on Castaway Cay.
:(
I could have spent 3 days there, lounging around and enjoying the sun.
The 'surprise' fireworks while docked in Nassau.
Crowds at the late night buffets...
Other than that...I thought everything was great...and would love to go again. :)

Agree with all the likes, brings back so many memories.
Likes: Animator's Palate, room service and the room steward. The slide at the pool. It was my kid's favoritw.
Dislikes: cost of bottled water and soft drinks, Nassau. And the early disembarkation. We are not early morning people.
Want to go again. Soon
Duane 01-20-2004, 10:04 AM I have been on the 4-day cruise several times over the past 2 years. I like absolutely everything except Nassau. I wish Disney would avoid this location. For those who have never been to Nassau, it is dirty, ran down, and full of beggars. I am in complete confusion as to why anyone would want to vacation in this area. After the first 2 cruises, we no longer get off the boat while in Nassau. Staying on the ship is much more rewarding! Highlights of the cruise are Castaway Cay and the "day at sea".
Moxin 01-22-2004, 09:39 PM How could anyone not like the pizza? They've changed it since the inaugural year, because 5 years later, they've really improved it. They even had a spicey chicken pizza up there as of October 2003!
However, they certainly need to alter their charging for cokes and water!!!!
femmfaerie 02-04-2004, 09:03 AM Likes - everything!
Mostly that super cute photographer i met =)
Loves - PALLO's!
We went for dinner and Brunch. The food was to die for and the Chocolate Souflet (spelling?) Had Ternderloin for brunch - OMG! now i am getting hungry!
The service was so great! Loved that our servers, not including Pallo, changed rooms with us! By the end of the 7 day cruise, 7 day cruise (hehe - Gilligans Island) Constantine and Bruchell knew Dawn drank coke, Barbara juice and myself water. Best part, one night we were going to skip dessert to save room for the Midnight buffet (something else I loved!) and Bruchell told us we had to have the Lava Cake (yet another LOVE) so glad we did not miss out on that.
What else? Everyone was so friendly! The shows are great, i loves Dream and the adult comedian, he was great.
We also went to 7 mile beach in Grand Cayman, Beautiful!
Sad to say i think I liked it better than Castaway Cay.
I can go on forever! but i wont - but one thing , when we were in Cozumel we went back on the ship to get more film and decided to hit the BUffet - OMG! the mexican buffet was so good!
Okay, one more - order chili from room service!
Dislikes -
Water in Castaway Cay was too cloudy for good snorkeling - but was wonderful in Cozumel!
The food in Castaway Cay was not that great. Not a lot of choices.
Also was not too crazy about the breakfast buffet - but with how great the other food was they totally redeamed themselves!
I wish my Photographer could have hung out with me, but the cast is not allowed to hang out with the guests.
Moxin 02-04-2004, 09:06 AM Twice we've been to Castaway Cay, and both times it has rained there, with winds making snorkeling very difficult. Ah well, it was really a day of utter relaxation anyway. You're right about the food on the island though...I think they need to up the quality so it matches everything else.
