Hi there .... I have a trip planed for the end of october and I am curious about the security measures . As I am a bit concerned for the safety of my 2 small children in light of the tragic events of September 11th.
Has anyone visited the park since the attacks? Did you feel safe?
This will be our first visit to the park and me are truely looking forward to our vacation but at the same time (as a mother ) I am trying my best to give us a sence of security before making the 6 hour drive. Can anyone help me?

USH's property lies mostly withing the county of Los Angeles and is patrolled by Sheriff deputies who are stationed on CityWalk and make regular patrols of the park, citywalk, and the studios both in uniform and in plain clothes. Uniformed and plain clothes security also roam the property. Since the terrorist attack, both have increased their presence.
The 2 hotels and the office officer building at the corner of Lankershim and the 101 FWY fall in the boundaries of L.A. City and are patrolled by the LAPD. Each hotel and the officer building have their own security also.
Upon entering USH, your bags will be checked for weapons of any kind.
You will be safe since entry to the lot is very restricted.

You have to walk through metal detectors and they make you take everything out of your bag and show them, if that makes you feel any better...

So the metal detectors and the bag checks at Universal's gate is preventing planes from crashing into the park how?
I've been to Universal once since the attacks, and I'll visit the park many more times. I feel completely safe visiting Universal and any other theme park in Southern California. Can the park be attacked? Of course. Unless they install a forcefield around the park, I'd say it's possible. But am I gonna sit and worry about it? No way. I refuse to let the terrorists win. I feel no different about Universal or any other park now than I did before the horrible attacks in New York. Though if some people feel a walk through a metal detector and a bag check at Universal will make things safer ... wonderful. :)
