View Full Version : Eisner booed by tourists!
merlinjones 12-12-2003, 09:18 AM Hey, is this happenning at DCA yet?:

(snip)
>>What Michael Eisner might really want to start worrying about is NOT how to get rid of images of Roy, but -- rather -- how to improve his own image. During last week's trip to Walt Disney World, I was
repeatedly told by cast members who work at Disney-MGM about how the guests have begun booing Eisner's appearances in the film portion of that theme park's "Walt Disney: One Man's Dream" exhibit.
Said one WDW vet:
"It's really weird, Jim. That show's been in there since September 2001. And -- up until last week -- no one's ever said a peep whenever Eisner
appeared on screen. But now the guests are cat-calling or saying stuff like 'That man does not belong in this movie.'
And it's not cast members who are doing this, Jim. Just your garden variety tourists. People who've heard that Roy was forced out of the Walt
Disney Company by Eisner's actions. Which is why they keep saying nasty things whenever Michael
appears on the screen."<<
RStar 12-12-2003, 09:26 AM If the board of directors won't listen to Roy or Mr. Gold because they are close to Eisner, maybe they will soon have to because of public opinon. And this may have been part of Roy's plan in the first place. Hence all the press.
I see the light at the end of the tunnel...............

Hey, is this happenning at DCA yet?: Sounds like a meet to me! Let's go meet at the hub, eat a long lunch at Pizza Port, get fastpasses for HMH, sink a boat or two, cross the esplanade to boo Eisner, hang around the Grand Cal lobby, snag a good spot for fireworks, walk back to the structure.
Yup, fits right in! :~D ;) :D

Hopefully it's not a train.
DisneyFan25863 12-12-2003, 03:15 PM It happened at DCA quite awhile ago (Oct. 12 @ MA). Not sure if it was padders who started it, but there were some boos from the crowd (including from me and Smochipoo [I can never spell her sn right  ])
merlinjones 12-12-2003, 03:42 PM I have wanted to make some noises in there myself for some time.
It's such a nicley put together film (especially the Wonderful World of Color part), and so nice to see Walt footage on the big screen, that Eisner's presence (knowing how he really feels about Walt), is upsetting.
When Roy gets the company back, they should reshoot those parts with him (or Julie Andrews...).

can we do this the first week of february when i'll be down again? i always turn to michael when he comes on and say, "he's a bad man!", but i never want to ruin the movie for others.
JeffG 12-12-2003, 05:09 PM I'm certainly not fond of Eisner either, but I think the behavior being described here indicates a major lack of maturity on the part of those involved and really the only effect it is going to have is to disrupt the experience of other guests.

I certainly can't speak for others, but if I were there and unaware of Eisner and the situation, it wouldn't upset me; I'd be curious and want to know what it was all about......And then, I would join in the fray!:p
merlinjones 12-13-2003, 02:00 AM I've been to several parties this week where the mere mention of the man has sparked boos all around! Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely with this exercise in free speech!
Why would anyone need to act "mature" in a Disney theme park? Isn't that antithetical to the point of going there?
Loric 12-13-2003, 03:42 AM Please no spit-balls. It's very costly to clean the screens and takes several days or weeks sometimes to have it done properly and often you can't get the stains out.
I think boo-ing Eisner is okay, but please don't physically harm the attraction.

Absolutely. Besides, we want everyone to enjoy the salute to Walt Disney himself onscreen, just not the Eisner parts!
