I've drafted an online petition, and hope that all MPer's will sign on; it's to support Roy Disney in his quest to restore the magic. Url is located below, and it is slated to begin tomorrow, 12/5/03.:)

View Full Version : Want to help Disneyland? This is a start... wendybeth 12-04-2003, 11:31 PM I've drafted an online petition, and hope that all MPer's will sign on; it's to support Roy Disney in his quest to restore the magic. Url is located below, and it is slated to begin tomorrow, 12/5/03.:) Andrew 12-05-2003, 12:03 AM Wow, I'm signature #1. That's a terrific statement you wrote, Wendybeth. Thanks! wendybeth 12-05-2003, 12:27 AM Thanks, Andrew, and VERY cool! (I wasn't sure I did anything right; just flying by the seat of my pants-lol) Wish us luck!:) Duane 12-05-2003, 05:18 AM If we could find someone who lives in California to volunteer their time near the front gates, that may be very effective. Just think, if you stood out at the main gates for a day you could easily get over a thousand signatures on the petition as people entered and exited the park. merlinjones 12-05-2003, 07:55 AM thanks, wendybeth! I'll sign now... Demigod121 12-05-2003, 08:00 AM I'm #18 - :D Sign sign sign! Everyone sign this petition! -Demigod CoasterMatt 12-05-2003, 08:19 AM I'm number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine... wendybeth 12-05-2003, 08:24 AM Thanks; you are all awesome!!! Duane, that's a great idea- anyone interested? I'd love to, but I'm 1300 miles away...:( I posted at LP; if anyone can think of other places, go for it! I have to go to work, but I'll get busy on it when I escape.... mamabot 12-05-2003, 08:24 AM I am number 26. So that means that I am not playing with a full deck? :geek: wendybeth 12-05-2003, 08:26 AM Mamabot- The deck is half-full; we're all optimists here!:) tod 12-05-2003, 08:59 AM Originally posted by Duane If we could find someone who lives in California to volunteer their time near the front gates, that may be very effective. Just think, if you stood out at the main gates for a day you could easily get over a thousand signatures on the petition as people entered and exited the park. Wouldn't work, for two reasons. Disney Security (the ones we used to refer to as "the men* with the spats") would politely, nicely, kindly, but firmly usher you out pronto and offer to bust you on a trespassing rap if you tried it again. Most guests wouldn't be interested anyway. They want to have fun with their families, not sign some petition that says the place is going downhill. You're better off trying to muster support among the True Believers like ourselves. Unless you really want to get that backstage tour and a first-hand look at the hospitality practices of the Anaheim PD. --T ----------------------------- *They were all men back then, just like on the Jungle Cruise. merlinjones 12-05-2003, 09:05 AM I think the general public is VERY interested in this story and would be happy to help. If someone distributed flyers on Harbor or Disneyland Dr., off of company property, and didn't block any entrances or agressively harrass or any other rulebreaking, there is nothing they can do to stop you. itsinthemagic 12-05-2003, 09:06 AM We're up to 34 now... I added mine, my fiancé added his and my parents added theirs. I'll be circulating this link around my family and friends, so hopefully we'll get a few more that way! Great work WendyBeth! sediment 12-05-2003, 09:06 AM Originally posted by Duane If we could find someone who lives in California to volunteer their time near the front gates, that may be very effective. Especially in front of the exits of DCA. sediment 12-05-2003, 09:07 AM According to Mr Yee, half the guests are AP holders. You figure most of them would be on board, seeing the drop-off in quality firsthand. I'm not disagreeing with you: I do think that accosting/soliciting/asking for support from average Disneyland guests may not be the best plan. Also please note that the entrances of Disneyland are specifically designed to discurage such activities. Take a look at the Harbor Boulevard employee entrance leading to Harbor House, with Monorail pylons surrounded by curbs and no public-access sidewalks to march a picket line on, as we all found out during the strike in the '80s. If anybody wants to try it, though, I'm in full support, and look forward to a report on how they did. --T Nephythys 12-05-2003, 10:09 AM I am #39- Thanks for doing this:D TwinGemII 12-05-2003, 10:27 AM I signed! Great Idea! I look forward to hearing the outcome. PumbaaMan 12-05-2003, 10:37 AM Number 45 and counting. Let's hope more folks get the word..... jrad32 12-05-2003, 10:48 AM No. 48  TheMur 12-05-2003, 11:03 AM And I have a complete deck! I'm number 52! scaeagles 12-05-2003, 11:54 AM I'm all for the power of the consumer....but I must say that someone will need to find a way to publicize such an effort much more widely. The last poster said they were number 52....let's say this generates 100 signatures today. Who signs it tomorrow? I would figure most of the hardcore padders will have signed it by then.....who else is there? How does it get out there? I agree with tod (second time in history, i think) - the average DL visitor isn't interested in taking time to stop and sign it, and you couldn't do it on Disney property, anyway. It is a great idea to do this, but without a huge circulation effort, I don't think it is going to do anything. I mean really - you run a billion dollar corporation and you some presents a petition with a few hundred signatures? For those that truly believe in this effort - unless significant time and money is invested, it won't go anywhere. So make your decision - is it important enough to spend the time and money on, or is it simply a "feel good" thing? DwoernAdale 12-05-2003, 12:34 PM Signed. Up to 64 signatures.
