Hear me, folks. I am going to say this only once and then I am going to say it again: quite possibly the greatest 25 minutes of animated fare ever put on television can be seen to-night at 8 pm on CBS

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Yay!

Sure I have a copy on video and I can watch it anytime I want to, but there is nothing like seeing on free TV as you once did many years ago. Sadly, for the faithful, it will be shown sans any Dolly Madison advertisments.

A true television masterwork. God Bless Charles Schulz!

"I just want what's coming to me. I just want my fair share!"
Sally Brown, on what she wants for Christmas.

Even though I love this special, it's being shown way too early in the season. They need to show it closer to Christmas. They just showed the Thanksgiving one last week!

I changed my sig line in honor of tonight :). My favorite part of that show is the fuzzy audio sound and how they pasted together all the little lines they kids say. I love that. It's not coming too early, Steph, it's helping us get in the mood!!

"What kind of Christmas music is that?"

"Bhetoven Christmas music!" :D

Unfortunately it will not be airing on CBS, but on ABC. This means we will not get the "CBS Special" spot in front of the show.

Check your local listings.

Hee hee.. I miss the music they played for that intro spot... :)
I kinda liked the Dolly Madison commercials, too.

Ah, the years....where have they gone to?

I miss those days! :crying:

When I was little...nights like these were special! You got to have a "TV TRAY" and eat in front of the TV! Whoo!

It was a major event in our house!

I so agree with Tref...there is something extra special about watching it on TV...something nostalgic! This one and The Wizard of Oz...just not the same on video!

Sadly though...we have our Christmas parade tonight and both the kids and I are in it...so DRAT! (said in classic Charlie Brown style!) we're gonna miss it!!! ....

...maybe I'll tape it! ;)

Same here. Those Charlie Brown specials, The Wizard of Oz, and The Sound of Music were all Very Special Evenings in our household.

I missed last night's showing--I was making pumpkin pies for my husband. :( But he and the kids got to watch and the kids LOVED it. We, too, have the tape, but I haven't let them watch it, in preparation of seeing it on TV. :) That's our tradition......

We couldn't decide between Charlie Brown Christmas and Year Without a Santa Claus last night and Year Without a Santa ended up winning. My oldest just LOVES all the Rankin/Bass christmas specials and since both of my boys are sick I let them pick. It was a winner either way 'cause I like them both!! ;)

Oh, I LOVE the Rankin-Bass stuff! Especially that leprechaun one, where the banshee keeps trying to get the leprechaun gold, and she turns into a pretty crying girl, who gets the sailor to give him the gold, but then she's tricked back into the seafoam bubbles. Great stuff!

We didn't see it, but we have the video, so it didn't really matter. Actually, I was out, maybe everyone else watched it.

WOW! Major flashback to childhood!

Watching Charlie Brown's Christmas or The Littlest Angel with the TV Trays pulled up to the couch. Other special occasions included Get Smart eating popcorn from my Grandma's yelloware bowl or eating breakfast on TV trays while watching the rose parade.

Awwww. Good times.

What was the really bad Peanuts Christmas cartoon that followed A Charlie Brown Christmas ? Did anyone else bother to see it ? I saw about half of it and that was about all I could stand !
