We will be in WDW over New Year's. We have two kids, 6 & 8 years old. If by chance they can stay awake until midnight, which park would be the best one to "Ring in the New Year"? Kid friendliest on New Year's Eve, midnight fireworks, etc. Do they give out hats, noisemakers, etc? We have no interest in going to Pleasure Island and leaving the kids behind. How is the celebration around the rest of the World?
Thanks,

FYI- The parks can be challenge on this day. I know the MK stopped letting people in about mid-day last year. Meaning if you are planning on coming to MK, good day to test your endurance. I am not sure what Epcot has besides Illuminations. I will be going to the Park today so I will check and see what is planned, and post later.
On another note, I have seen your other posts- your family will have a wonderful time. The tempature dropped like 20 plus degrees yesterday, and the forcast appears to be clear with cool nights 70's highs- 50/40 lows- can dip to 30's). Very nice time of year to come- can be nippy at times and a little cold for water parks although water is heated. Pop Century is looking very nice, so if this where you decided to stay- very nice- although truth be known you can not go wrong with any of the on-site accomodations. It is a matter of degree of accomodations and budget. Some can't miss for decorations and christmas spirit (and free)
-Grand Floridian- Beautiful and nicely manicured- PS Park Fare is very nice place to eat for breakfast or dinner- reservations are recommended-
- Wilderness Loge
- Downtown Disney
- Palm Resort - Ice Sculptures- although there is a charge-
- Downtown Celebration- Snow Falling at Night- Carridge Rides Santa et, al.
Could go on and on- if you need anything feel free to write

Very cool!
Thanks so much, Mark!
Do you live in Celebration? I'm curious about Celebration...what you wrote about the snow falling, carriage rides, Santa et, al. I've only heard a little about it. My understanding is that it is a very nice neighborhood, with fancy shops, is that somewhat right?
We arrive in Orlando on the 28th of Dec. Will the Christmas stuff still be going on in Celebration after Christmas?
Do you have a special New Year's Eve celebration suitable for children?

We normally do EPCOT but we are two adults/no kids and want the accesibility of an alcoholic beverage to toast in the new year's with. EPCOT normally has some DJ's set up around the World and then a special Illuminatations at midnight.
I would reccommend for you to try MK or MGM. MK normally has perimeter fireworks. I don't know if they still will with Wishes, but I would assume so. You can always stake out a spot for Spectromagic and then stay for the fireworks. Or you can ride rides up until firework time - work your way to Main Street - stand in the middle and enjoy the fireworks. Just expect it to be crowded!
MGM has Sorcery in the Sky at midnight. A good show - but IMO - my least favorite fireworks show. This will probably be the least crowded park - but that is only my guess.
The parks do normally get full quickly. But you should be safe entering the park early afternoon. If you are staying on property - call your front desk and find out what the status of the parks are before getting on the bus. Last year we wanted to go to EPCOT but because of the intense rain on New Years Eve night we stayed in. The year before we walked right into EPCOT at 7pm! We were told we were not going to get in that late - but we did!
Every park should have hats but I have seen them run out.
No matter where you go you will haev a great time. It is Disney! They will have a good show for you!
Have fun!

Yes we live in South Village. Celebration was actually developed by Disney, which you can see in the architecture. The snows falling is every night, and the city is a nice diversion from the normal pace. Many of the homes are dressed up during this time of year. Although, I would probably go for the endurance test from the parks. You are going to have a great time!!!
