View Full Version : What hotels still have real shuttles?
5visitsperyear 11-22-2003, 08:37 AM We usually stay within walking distance of the park, but this visit needs to be different because:
My adored but cranky grandparents need a hotel with a shuttle that goes directly to and from the park. Those dreaded red buses will not suit, not for folks with two wheelchairs and 2 canes who require personalized attention to boost them onto the bus!
We're trying to keep the room rate under 100 and we want to go before the Christmas rush.
The hotel also needs in-room coffee, an elevator, and a full bar and restaurant.
Any suggestions from fellow Disneyland visitors?
Thanks,

I have to be honest, the only properties that I can think of with the full restaurant/bar/coffee maker/elevator that would also work for two wheelchair users for Disneyland would be on property. We always stay on Harbor and never need the shuttles but because I do have a daughter that uses a wheelchair accessiblity is something I tend to notice and I have to say I don't remember seeing a single shuttle that had a wheelchair lift. You might find a property that has all the things you are hopeful for but it won't be for less than $100 a night in the holiday season. If you rethink some of the 'have to haves' the Desert Inn & Suites right at the crosswalk is next to several resturants, I can't help out with the bar issue, I don't drink so it's not something I notice.
Good luck and enjoy your trip with your family.
5visitsperyear 11-23-2003, 07:22 AM Thanks, Mamasilva!
Luckily, they don't need wheelchair lifts onto the shuttle, they have fold-up chairs, so there is hope!
I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything!
Cheers,

We just got back from a stay at the Embassy Suites Anaheim South, our personal favorite, and it has all the things you are looking for except the price - we paid $119.00 a night, but we think that it's worth it. We even stayed in a room for people with disabilities even though we didn't need to so I could describe it to you if you would like. We were able to book it just 2 days in advance on expedia.com.
Including the free bus to and from Disneyland and the free made-to-order or buffet style breakfast every morning (that's very good), they even have a free manager's reception every night with drinks and snacks. Have I said "free" enough yet? We were even able to witness a beautiful wedding on Saturday that was held in the atrium.
So go check it out if you are interested. Have fun.
mad4mky 11-25-2003, 08:34 AM I have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn near Disneyland.
They have a free shuttle (the same one Embassey Suites uses).:D
adriennek 11-25-2003, 08:43 AM So does the Embassy Suites have its own shuttle or does it stop at the Hilton Garden Inn, also?

There are three or four hotels all in the same lot. This is also the lot with Buca di Beppo. One shuttle serves all of them.

Oh, THOSE hotels. Gotcha.

5visitsperyear 12-06-2003, 09:49 AM Your nice replies caused me to investigate the Embassy and Hilton Garden. While looking at these, I found another Hilton property, the Hilton Suites in Orange (near Edison Park). They also have a shuttle, and a fairly low net-only rate of 103. I'll let you all know how this works out for the Grandparents. We'll go there in about a week.
Cheers to all,

5visitsperyear 12-29-2003, 08:58 AM The Hilton Suites at 400 State College still have their own hourly shuttles to and from the park. Indeed, one of their shuttles has a bona fide wheelchair lift. All you have to do is tell the people at the desk when you are leaving for the parks and they will use that shuttle.
The hotel in general was comfortably set up for older folks, though the average customers are businesspeople who may or may not visit the parks. (Ergo: lower weekend rates)
Good place to keep in mind for wheelchair users.
