Knott's unveils $16 million coaster plans (http://www.amusementtoday.com/extra.html) - Amusement Today, 11/21/03

QuikQuote: Silver Bullet, the new Bolliger & Mabillard inverted coaster at Knott's Berry Farm, will soar over the theme park's Reflection Lake when it opens next December. Standing 126 feet, the 3,125-foot-long coaster will feature six inversions including a 105-foot-tall outside loop. Using two trains, Silver Bullet will cycle in 2 1/2 minutes. In an exclusive to Amusement Today, Jack Falfas, vice president and general manager of the Southern California, theme park, said Silver Bullet's public debut is set for December 24, 2004. "We are giving an early Christmas gift to the residents of Southern California," he said.
For Knott's seventh coaster, Falfas said the park wanted something with loops, and the excellent reputation of B&M prompted the choice for an inverted coaster. "Cedar Fair continues to have a good relationship with B&M," Falfas said of Knott's parent company. "B&M continues to make a good coaster." During his previous tenure at Cedar Point, Falfas oversaw the installation of B&M's Raptor, and the manufacturer's other inverted, Talon at Dorney Park, proved a huge hit for the Allentown, Pa., park. Falfas said Knott's has already been working with B&M for two years on the Silver Bullet project. Knott's is adding two rides to open Easter 2004, a Rockin' Tug from Zamperla and the first floorless Top Spin from Huss featuring back-to-back seating.

Yeah...it's obvious they are 'struggling' to keep up with all the new rides at DL.
Univ: New ride/attraction in ONE year build. Knott's new ride in ONE year build. Diz...uh...3 to 4 year build every 12 years?

Geez.

But seriously folks...Hope the seats are larger than Acellerator!

^ B&M Invert seats are quite roomy. :)

I'd say this is a really good move for Knott's... as much as I'd like to see some more family-friendly ride, this should get them some more business from the Magic Mountain set and set them apart from DLR more. It also helps that the best coasters B&M makes are their inverted coasters, and the best coasters in the first place are B&M coasters. Compared to Xcelerator downtime and Ghostrider's horrific capacity, this coaster should strongly enhance their collection.
