Knott's unveils $16 million coaster plans (http://www.amusementtoday.com/extra.html) - Amusement Today, 11/21/03
QuikQuote: Silver Bullet, the new Bolliger & Mabillard inverted coaster at Knott's Berry Farm, will soar over the theme park's Reflection Lake when it opens next December. Standing 126 feet, the 3,125-foot-long coaster will feature six inversions including a 105-foot-tall outside loop. Using two trains, Silver Bullet will cycle in 2 1/2 minutes. In an exclusive to Amusement Today, Jack Falfas, vice president and general manager of the Southern California, theme park, said Silver Bullet's public debut is set for December 24, 2004. "We are giving an early Christmas gift to the residents of Southern California," he said.
For Knott's seventh coaster, Falfas said the park wanted something with loops, and the excellent reputation of B&M prompted the choice for an inverted coaster. "Cedar Fair continues to have a good relationship with B&M," Falfas said of Knott's parent company. "B&M continues to make a good coaster." During his previous tenure at Cedar Point, Falfas oversaw the installation of B&M's Raptor, and the manufacturer's other inverted, Talon at Dorney Park, proved a huge hit for the Allentown, Pa., park. Falfas said Knott's has already been working with B&M for two years on the Silver Bullet project. Knott's is adding two rides to open Easter 2004, a Rockin' Tug from Zamperla and the first floorless Top Spin from Huss featuring back-to-back seating.
