Okay, for the past two weekends, I have gone to Knotts.
Food
I tried the Champagne Brunch this weekend. The brunch is like a buffett of everything at Knotts. All you can eat Knotts Fried Chicken, Ribs, Handmade Omlettes, Roast Beef, Turkey, Waffles with Boysenberry Topping, Shrimp, Lox and Bagels, assorted Mexican food, and a dessert area that included Boysenberry Pies, cakes, mexican pastries, cookies, fresh cut apples in caramel, and Ice Cream bars. Certainly worth the price which includes drinks and sparkline wine. Oh, and Snoopy comes through every hour or so.
I've been in the Chicken Dinner restaraunt in the past, so on another day I tried the Chicken To Go area which I highly recommend. There was a snack box special that included a drink for $5.95. Taken the box out to the tables near the Re-Entry entrance was pretty enjoyable.
In the Bakery next door, I really like the Boysenberry turnover.
The Ribs -- they are great and only $2 ($3 with a can of Pepsi). I noticed that individual ribs were $3 inside the park.
Shopping
Knotts certainly beats Disney now on variety of stuff. Most of the store remind me of Main Street and New Orleans Square PP (pre-pressler). I did a lot of window shopping and this is a place where you could find stuff for the "hard to shop for."
In the California Marketplace, there is a store that has a miniture village set up in the back. A lot of the buildings had animated people. I bought a shirt at Bobs Mens Store- which is not owned by Knotts. In fact, some of the stores inside the park are NOT owned by Knotts. There was a portion of the store that had all sorts of stuff for Dog/Cat lovers.
Inside the park, the Ghost Town area had a ton of interesting items. The Bonnett and Dresses shop had the kind of old fashioned dresses that my Mom likes, so I will have to go back there for Christmas shopping. There are a ton of Westeren items as well as autheintic Native American items. Prices seemed reasonable.
Attractions
Xcellarator is still a fantastic, yet short roller coaster. The scariest part of this ride is the take off. However, I find the old Montezooma's Revenge take off scarier because you don't know when its going to happen. GhostRider is a fun Coaster- which I love how the G-forces keep pulling you to the left. Boomerang still makes me nauses. Still haven't got the courage to go on Supreme Scream or Perilous Plunge.
The rafting ride gets you plenty wet. I went on the StageCoach for the first time ever -- which was the longest wait in the park because it was a slow loading ride. It was interesting -- especially considering that it is the oldest attraction. A lot of the "throw up" carnival rides I didn't go on. The Log Flume is pretty long with plenty of themed scenes and a little bit of animation.
Shows
Loved the Calico Saloon Show -- just a quality show. I also saw a special performance of Fullerton College's song and dance group Bravo! Eh, they were okay, if not a little corny. Felt like they were doing a cheesy Theme Park show.
The one show that is good, but left me with a bunch of questions was the Mystery Lodge. How do they do the effects? Especially the cane effect?
Parking
Okay, I cheated. I used the 3 free hours at The California Marketplace to save myself 8 bucks on parking in the theme park lots. I went back and moved the car to get another 3 hours.
I will probably go again this weekend because it is still free for Veterens.
