Just what we don't need - another cash cow for Disney to throw money at, and to divert money desperately needed for improvements/maintenance at Disneyland!

Uh, "cash cows" make money - that's why companies like to milk them.
Disney's just following MacDonald's footsteps - soon everyone will be able to go to a Disny Park.

The information about Hong Kong Disneyland was a bit interesting. They're hoping it'll attract 5.6 million guests; slightly less than half of Disneyland's annual attendance. That sounds rather low, doesn't it ? I wonder if they suspect HKDL will flop ? I think it will. A DL park with only 12 attractions is a place I have no interest in visiting. I think HKDL will fail miserably and any plans for a park in Shanghai will be put on hold for long time.

It all depends on how it's priced - if the admission matches the value, people will go. They may hit their attendence numbers, revenue may be another matter.

How about $12 admission?
One $ per attraction sounds fair :~D

I'm not entirely sure of where DL Hong Kong's being built, but could it be possible that land is just really expensive there? It's not an excuse since they chose to build the park, but the scarcity of land in the region could be a reason as to why it's so small compared to Disneyland in Anaheim.

The reason is that they cheaped out, plain and simple.
Universal is building a park for Shanghai, and Disney keeps repeatedly fumbling what was once a sure thing for them.

Tokyo Disneyland was built in a city where land is scarce also. The issue isn't really the amount of land (just think of how small the original Disneyland is).. the issue is lack of attractions.

Does it make sense to blow millions of dollars on something if they DO SUSPECT the park will flop. sigh
Well I guess you cant blame these people for wanting two parks in the same country. China is more populated than us but how many are true magic fans? Will they have a specialty park to go with HK Disneyland? That could help it. I have some faith in this park but they need to come up with somethig new and original to add to this so that Americans will wanna go (liek Tokyo DisneySea) otherwise it's gonna be a Disneyland+California Adventure or Paris+Disney Studios
