I noticed Darkbeers newslink to an article on MK safety concern (posted today). I had a really ignorant question, but when I tryed to post reply I couldn't. After looking at the forum, I realized that there are no reponses on any of the posts, so I expect it is locked. So here are my two questions
1) If news forum is locked, why aren't the no response check mark or the locked envolop icons used (just curious- bug or feature :D)
2) I have been working on the assumption that MK refered to WDW and DL is the name for the original park. Is the DL park also refered to as magic kingdom? Because this article used magic kingdom in the title, and so did Darkbeer. But the specifics in the article kept saying Disneyland. I'm still not sure how many of the important facts (like lay offs of maintance workers) also applied to what I have been calling magic kingdom (WDW).
Just a nut for details and easily confused...
The News and Announcement forums are for news and announcements only; they are not open for discussions at all. Members do not have the ability to post follow-ups to these forums.
If you would like to discuss the particular news article, go to the appropriate forum (for example, if it was about the Magic Kingdom, go to the WDW forum). There, you will see the identical post, but it will be available for follow-up discussions.
One thing we might consider is to include a link to the discussion-allowable forum's post. If there is a big request for it, we can try to start doing that.

Usually a news story is posted twice. One in the News forum and again in the forum that fits the story.
The News Forum is for information only and is not a discussion forum, therefore you can't post to a thread in that forum.
The same story may be posted in the WDW Forum as well. That is the thread that you can post comments.

But that was the problem-- my question is whether this just refers to disneyland or to magic kingdom (as the title states). I still have a question about the way we refer to the parks. I thought I had it straight- but now I'm confused:( . It was posted in Disneyland forum- not WDW.

"The Magic Kingdom" is usually taken to mean the Florida park, the one with Cinderella's castle. However, Disneyland has also been referred to as "Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom" or the "Magic Kingdom of Disneyland". There doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule usage rule here, so you will just have to take the meaning from the context (and from the forum in which you find the post).

For many years, "magic kingdom" has been used as an informal nickname for Disneyland and the other parks that were based on it. When Walt Disney World was expanded into a multi-park complex, they adopted "The Magic Kingdom" as the official name for the original WDW park.
It still is fairly common to refer to Disneyland as a "magic kingdom", but it isn't the formal name for the park as it is in Florida.

The title of the thread is the same as the newspaper headline Darkbeer was quoting, thus it was their error in calling Disneyland the Magic Kingdom.
