And to pull out the most condescending phrase ever (I hated this one for 28 years.... now I understand even though it KILLS me to admit it for as much as I hated hearing it)-- when you have kids, you'll understand. (In all fairness, some people understand before they have kids, and I understood some things before I had kids...)
My sons don't ask for autographs yet, but I think M is getting close. It doesn't take much for my 5-year-old to look around and realize that other kids have autograph books. His eyes work well enough to see that other kids are getting characters to write in their books and he's starting to ask where his book is.
Yes, parents get into it, but don't assume that kids don't. And I 500% agree with Lani. If Disneyland wasn't encouraging autograph$, it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but they've "Created" this mon$ter them$elve$.
