Ok, for the past 4 days or so, my internet always goes out at 4:00, and stays out until I reset my modem. Now, at first I was thinking that it was just some outages, but I decided to investigate. So I look around a bit, and discover that the IP to my DSL modem (it's DHCP) expires every 24 hours, at 4 o'clock. I figured out that restarting the modem makes it get a new IP. It normally does this automatically, without me having to restart it. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong?

You ISP probably has a 24 lease on their DHCP addresses, so there's not much you can do about that. I don't know why your system won't go out and do it automatically, but at the very least, there's a less hateful way of working around it. Simply write a batch file with two lines.

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

That will cause your system to go out and request a new ip without rebooting the modem.

The only promblem with that is that I use a router that assigns IP's also, so it would only ask for a new IP from the Router, not from my ISP. :(
