View Full Version : Least Favorite Rides?

This topic has stirred interest at the Disneyland board, so maybe I can get some action started at the WDW board. ;)
1. Journey into your Imagination
2. Food Rocks
3. Ellen's Energy Adventure (Psst, Ellen's little thing is not the reason for this, if you are wondering.
4. Kali River Rapids (Or whatever it's called this week)
5. Innoventions (Fresh idea 7 years ago, dead one now.)
Pheneix
Ok, I'll play :D
Bearing in mind that I haven't yet been to Animal Kingdom, here's my top five choices for least favorite WDW rides (in no particular order):
1. The Ellen Energy Ride at Epcot (you know, the *wake me when it's over* ride)
2. The River of Time boat ride in the Mexico pavilion at World Showcase. I waited a long time in line to basically watch videos of Aztec dancers and a cheap rip-off of It's A Small World. Nah, I'm not bitter.
3. Journey into the Imagination. Ooooookay. 'Nuff said.
4. The Studio Tram tour at MGM. The Catastrophe Canyon section was kinda cool, but that's about it- waited a long time in line for this one too. I've been on the Universal Studios tram tour. And, MGM Studio Tram tour...you're no Universal Studios.
5. Cranium Command (the one where you are inside the head of the adolescent male- scary!) It was just loud and drug on too long for me. Or, was that...loud and ON drugs? *shrug*
Interesting how most of the rides that tanked for me were at Epcot. Hmmm, lol. On that note, Honorable Mention goes to Living Seas. While the aquariums themselves were worth some time, what is with that *ride* portion? Not the brief elevator drop to the aquariums, but I mean the people mover type ride that takes you past the aquarium windows? It turned one corner and then it was time to get off :p I mean, WHAT was the point? (excuse the Jerry Seinfeld imitation).
Aims
Well, I don't have a list, but my number one least favorite (maybe this will generate some comments!):
TEST TRACK
hate it, hate it, hate it.

Yeah I'm not keen on Test Track either, although I can tolerate it. I also have to plug El Rio de Tiempo... I LOVE that ride. Yeah it's cheesy but it's old school. That's not to be scoffed at these days...
Anyway, the worst ride must be
JOURNEY INTO YOUR IMAGINATION.
this ride heaps shame upon Disney daily. It's so awfully, awfully bad.
See also: Food Rocks... the Radio Disney River Cruise when they were doing it. The Chester and Hester carnytown they're building.
Nothing else I can think of now really bothers me, except the stuff I don't see to begin with (Doug Live). Most of it is stuff that SHOULD have been better, like the Seas ride segment and Test Track.

1. Journey into your Imagination
I didn't think this attraction was terrible. However, if you're going to replace one attraction with another, it should be much better than its predecessor. Journey Into Your Imagination isn't better. The pavilion would have been much better off leaving the old ride.
2. Food Rocks
See above. The exact same thing applies. Apparently others agree with me because Food Rocks is sparsely attended.
3. Ellen's Energy Adventure (Psst, Ellen's little thing is not the reason for this, if you are wondering.
I don't mind this attraction. It is a bit long. However, it's infinitely better than its predecessor. The original show was so out of date it was pathetic. The new show has more current information with some wit and humor thrown in. In general, though, I think it's a mistake to base any attraction around a real-life person. It's better to base attractions aorund fictional characters that Disney has 100% control over.
4. Kali River Rapids (Or whatever it's called this week)
This ride disappointed me so much. Although the queue is splendid, the ride itself is rather lame. Space Mountain is infinitely better than a conventional roller coaster (of the time). Splash Mountain is infinitely better than a conventional log flume ride. Kali River Rapids is pretty much the same as a conventional raft ride. The burning trees are not enough to make this ride special. (The ride's also very short.) Animal Kingdom needed a grand-slam attraction, and this ride could have been it, but it wasn't. Don't even get me started on that new area in Dinoland USA...
In defense of Animal Kingdom in general, though, I was there last week and had a great time. I had no rpoblem filling up an entire day - and I didn't even go to the Conservation Station (Rafiki's Whatever) this time. Many guests probably elect to pass up the animal trails in Asia and Africa, but I enjoyed them very much, especially the way they combine the animals with intensive theming.
5. Innoventions (Fresh idea 7 years ago, dead one now.)
I don't think CommuniCore really had much to offer, either, so I don't care that Innoventions is lame. I never even go in.

1. Body Wars (Epcot)
2. The Circle of Life
3. Food Rocks
4. Astro Orbiters
5. The Enchanted Tiki Room

1. Journey into your Imagination-
Love Figment...hate the whole ride......They need to spice it up. This would be a perfect place to incorporate the "Spiderman" ride technology. Imagine being with Figment fighting off your scary(not too scary) nightmares!(got to keep it safe for kids)
2. The Great Movie Ride-
How can I say zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Looks like this ride is going to be removed anyway, and with the rumors of this ride to get a new theme with the "Spiderman" technology.
3. Kali River Rapids-
Hard to believe that this was a Disney creation.
4. Astro Orbiters
weeeeee.......dumbo for adults
5. Pooh's Adventure
This ride is not too bad.....I just hate it because they took out Mr. Toads Wild Ride for it!

1. Enchanted Tiki Room Under New management - I find this one especially horrible as well as insulting to the legacy of the imagineers and Walt Disney as it rips apart the old show. I used to love the original show and it would be a highlight. Nowadas I get sick when I see the building for this one.
2. Test Track - I still don't get the long wait times for this one. It has no re-ride value and rarely works correctly. What a waste of money and bad idea in geeral
3. Living Seas Pre-Show movie - "and it rained, and it rained, and it rained, and it rained" Get me the noose!
4. Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey - Can we get a rush on that noose?
5. Journey into Your Imagination - not quite as bad when it isn't unfairly compared to the original, but it has too many portions that have nothing going on and some stuff is just downright bizarre and lame.
6. Ellen's energy adventure - long winded. Once is more than enough. Is there an e-stop as in boredom emergency?
7. Any simulator. I hate those. Body Wars, star Tours, those make me ill.
I hate Pooh too since I don't like the characters or the fact it replaced Toad Hall, but it isn't THAT bad.;)

1) Test Track - oh sure, I'll go on if there isn't much of a line. But you can get the same effect by sticking your head out the car window on the ride home.
2) El Rio di Tiempo - This ride is so insulting. It looks like they needed something quick so they used a bunch of old Small World puppets and filled in the rest with home movies.
3) Whatever the hell it is they're putting in Dino-Land at DAK. It just sounds bad.
4) Backlot tour at D-MGM. "Here's an old prop... another old prop... Look, an old prop!"
5) Most character meeting areas. I don't see the point. Granted, I don't have kids.
6) Most circle-vision movies.

1. Journey into imagination???? What were they thinking?
2. Any circle visiion film except for Time Keeper
3. Energy Adventure. Good place to take the kids for an afternoon nap. Can't they just offer rides through the dino sections only?
4. Kali Rapids. The best part is shooting water at guests from the elephant statues. You don't even have to ride the ride to do this.
5. Keelboats. Could be better if they would change the script from time to time.

Wow. I strongly disagree. I like Test Track a lot. I thought it was a heck of a lot of fun. I've ridden it about five times, and I thought it was fun every time. And with the information about testing cars, it's also a little educational, so it's well suited to EPCOT. I never had a problem with it not working properly, but I know the ride's early days were plagued with troubles.

1. Country Bear Jamboree(Even kids don't like it.)
2. Food Rocks
3. Cranium comand
4. The making of 101 Dalmations or whatever
5. Beauty and The beast it was good when the movie came out
6. As B. Auton said most of the circle vison films they give you a crik in your neck. In the time keeper they don't even let you sit!!!!

Okay, I need to defend Cranium Command. I found it touching. It is outdated but a creative attraction.
I thought Test Track was not worth the 2 Hour wait.
The Pooh Ride is pathetic.
Spaceship Earth is a huge round AT&T commercial.
On the bright side the following rides are better in WDW than DL.:
Splash Mountain
Jungle Cruise
Big Thunder

The Living Seas, Astro Orbitor, Backstage Tour at MGM, Journey Into Your Imagination, Innoventions, Enchanted Tiki Room, Most of Animal Kingdom, Any arcade in the parks, and Ellen's Energy Adventure.
I love Test Track, Sounds Dangerous, Norway, and Mexico. I don't know why I am the only one, but I guess that is a good thing that I enjoy almost everything in the parks.

Well, The Living Seas movie is really dumb, but the TTA-type ride past the aquariums didn't strike me as particularly short. The hydrolators are in fact laughable, but probably were impressive when originally installed. The fact that they carry Otis Elevator badging is at least a nice, realistic touch. I was never fortunate enough to see the original Imagination, so my experience of the much-maligned JIYI had no point of reference. Taken on it's own, I thought it was pretty cool. I really liked the butterfly in the cage effect, it's one of a few theme-park tricks I've seen that wasn't easy to suss out - It wasn't immediately clear how it was done. I even liked the passing train gag. I got the point of JIYI, at any rate - "Here are the things your imagnation can do for you - now really let it loose and you can do amazing things." Also I happen to like Monty Python/Eric Idle so that was a plus for me too. I sort of wish I'd seen the original thing so many people mourn now. . . If it was truly THAT great, what a bummer I never saw it. Is it a question of theme-park geekery, retroactive Disneyphilia, or was it really that much better a ride? I'm asking earnestly. . .

In no particular order:
1. The Hall of Presidents - Roll Call...by the time they got to Lincoln I was asleep.
2. Test Track - We're going 65 miles per hour in a convertible! Whoopedie do. Oh yeah, that was worth the 75 minute line, sure.
3. Extraterrorestrial Alien Encounter - my dog breathes on my neck in the dark, he doesn't charge me $45 to do it. Liked the preshow - hated the show.
4. The Universe of Energy - I think that Ellen adds some life to this attraction - the old version was even more dull. They should have left Horizons alone and taken out this clunker.
5. Living with the Land Boat Ride - "On our right, you will see hydroponic lettuce" If I was a gardener, or a plant lover, I would dig this, but since I'm not...zzzzzz.
Guilty Pleasure attractions (i.e. - the ones that you know you shouldn't like because they're so cheesy, but you just do)
1. Food Rocks! - I'm a Food groupie, I admit it.
2. it's a small world - I never get tired of this ride. I know all the words in English, Spanish and French. "En el mundo hay risas y dolor..."
3. Country Bear Jamboree - "Zeke and Zed and Ted and Fred and a bear named Tennesse." I love those bears.
Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit! ;)

Pooh is cool (I know, it's no wild ride). Alien Encounter is cool. Test Track is eh. . . well, the hall of presidents is cool, and Spaceship Earth should be experienced by every head of state. It's moving (literally). Other than that, the whole brain, health, and food stuff is pretty lame.:)

The first year I went that it was open, I could not get on it. At 10 am all the fast passes were sold out! And, it kept breaking down, people would be in line for 3 hours, and then be told it was broke and to come back later. Also, even when it was broke, people were still lines across future world waiting for it.
On my next trip, I did finally get to experience it. It was a sad, sad attraction. I can appreciate what they were attempting, but it was just silly. Not at all the thrill ride I thought it would be, and I was really pi*sed that this was what replaced the World of Motion.

pooh rocks. I was sad to see Toad go, but I like pooh. And the picture on the wall of the deed being handed over is a nice touch. But, Toad is still in Disneyland, so I got to catch that on my last trip out west.

I remember going to the Studios back in 1991. Everything was still new there. It was small but I remember having a great time. The Studio Tour was small but comparable to Universal. This past March I went again. While the new attractions are great - Tower of Terror and Rock N Rollercoaster, the rest of the park was a little disappointing. The studio tour today is like - nothing. Seeing the sets to 102 dogs was cool, but how about something more recent?
Two hours at AK and I was ready go.
MK - I had no complaints
Epcot - every thing I loved from the first time like Horizons, World of Motion, Journey were nothing but memories.
I love Maelstrom!
