I've seen combo DVD/VCRs and I've seen combo VCR/TVs, but has anyone ever seen a DVD/VCR/TV in one unit? If so, please pass on any information you can.
Thanks In Advance :)

But I have bought a TV/VCR combo in the past and I wouldn't recommend it. Because when one breaks, you have to send in both to be fixed so you're without both for a period of time... So if there's a 3 in 1 deal, if your VCR breaks you could be without all three... (Just a thought...) Bill Catherall 10-09-2003, 11:48 AM For the record, I agree with GC. Combos just aren't a good deal. But if you must (they are good at saving space and avoiding wire clutter), yes they do exist. Check out Sears (http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/search.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=ELEC&cat=TVs+%26+TV+Stands&subcat=Combination+TV-VCR-DVDs&displayTarget=Subcategory), Circuit City (http://www.circuitcity.com/searchresults.jsp?c=1&b=g&catoid=-8042&department=Televisions&first=yes&qp=0), Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat03008&navHistory=cat00000%2Bcat03000%2Bcat03001&type=category&navLevel=4), or compare prices here (http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_attrib.php/page_id=84/topcat_search=1/form_keyword=tv+dvd+vcr+combo/mode=newgoto3/ut=3fc2b46639ab2ee7). Hey, MousePadders, I'm as shocked as you. :D :p SzczerbiakManiac 10-09-2003, 02:21 PM I agree with you in principle GC/BC. Whenever people ask me about combo printer/FAX/copiers, I give them the same reasoning. But in this case, I'm just looking to add a small TV to the boudoir and don't have the space for three units. I was hoping there was something I could get on the cheap that would suit my needs. Go figure...I just bought a combo printer/FAX/copy/scanner. Space saving, cheaper in combo than seperate, plus it's a great printer. ;) It seems that many of the 20" models I linked to above are pretty affordable considering you're getting 3 in 1. What size/price were you looking for? Sheila 10-10-2003, 12:23 PM Can I slightly derail this thread? How about the combo DVD/VCR units? I keep seeing them for sale at Costco and would love to buy one for my bedroom TV as well. Any recommendations on those? Sheila Bill Catherall 10-10-2003, 12:26 PM I'd stick with a brand you know. If it's some brand you've never heard of before then they don't have a reputation to uphold. Other than that I can't really offer any recommendations. I haven't used any of them and I don't know anybody who has. Bruce Bergman 10-11-2003, 02:18 PM Originally posted by Sheila Can I slightly derail this thread? How about the combo DVD/VCR units? Sheila Not specifically by brand, but the DVD/VCR combo units are a smarter choice as opposed to either one built into a TV set, even if you're space challenged. If you have the room, get all seperates - they're literally building stuff like that to be disposable. Even if you can find someone to fix it for much less than the cost of a new one, half the repair parts you'd need to do it simply aren't available without an epic 'search-and-order' quest - you have to go through the manufacturer to get things like custom made IC's and proprietary mechanical components. The TV set is likely to go a lot longer between failures than either the DVD player section (simple mechanicals but the optical systems can get goofy) or the VCR section - with all the mechanical details to pull the tape out and wrap it around the drum designed by Rube Goldberg  Several small motors to jam, limit switches to get out of adjustment, rubber belts, pinch rollers and drive capstans to rot and break, cams, solenoids, and levers all made of thin plastic and ready to break on a whim... At least when the VCR half of the VCR/DVD combo dies, you can get another and just use the DVD part. Or it's a lot easier to toss a DVD/VCR in the trunk and take in for service, without worrying about boxing it up or breaking and imploding the picture tube... :fez: --<< Bruce >>-- Towmod 10-21-2003, 09:43 AM Toshiba makes them, I personally love them for my kids rooms. Ive seen at Costco or Best Buy 20 inch tv/dvd/vcr combos for about $400. Its pretty close to the price of seperates. |
