View Full Version : SAP entrances?
miss bianca 10-06-2003, 05:31 PM Hi all - can you tell me where do you enter the rides if you have a SAP?
If its the EXIT - how do you do that on the Fantasyland rides? Aren't the turnstiles at the Exits?
Thanks I'm just super confused
;)
TheatreTech 10-06-2003, 05:40 PM Most in FL are through the exit. Just stay behind the yellow line and a CM will help you. The ones with turnstiles usually have a seperate lines off to the sides. On nonFL rides with FP, you can go through the FP line if you can walk up stairs...but, sometimes the exit is shorter...cough: Indy.
(edit)(once more)
miss bianca 10-06-2003, 05:52 PM Thanks
:D
cstephens 10-06-2003, 06:09 PM miss bianca - there are varying places where you enter with an SAP. Keep in mind that in some of the cases (Pooh and Indy, that I can think of), the queues are considered wheelchair-accessible, so you'd really need an SAP to use the SAP entrance.) As TheatreTech mentioned, most of the time, you enter through the exit, though sometimes, you enter through the Fastpass return line. In all cases, there should be the disabled symbol where you should go, so look for those. Some specific attractions at DL:
Winnie the Pooh - SAP entrance is through the Fastpass return line.
Splash Mountain (don't know when you're coming or if it'll be up when you do) - SAP entrance is through the exit.
Haunted Mansion - SAP entrance is through the Fastpass return line.
Pirates - SAP entrance is through the exit.
Indy - SAP entrance is through the exit.
Jungle Cruise - SAP entrance is through the exit.
Mark Twain/Columbia - SAP entrance is through the exit.
Fantasyland - I believe all of the dark rides and Storybook have SAP entrances through the exits.
Small World - There's a separate entrance line for SAP next to the regular entrance.
Roger Rabbit - SAP entrance is through the exit, unless the CM is being weird and forces you to walk the entire empty queue even if you have an SAP.
Matterhorn - SAP entrance is through the exit, I believe.
Autopia - I believe the SAP entrance is through the Fastpass return line.
Monorail - I actually don't remember where the SAP entrance is. I know it's not the exit. Maybe it's just to approach the CM at the regular entrance.
Star Tours - I believe the SAP entrance is through the Fastpass return line.
I would recommend stopping by City Hall on your visit. They have a pamphlet that is a guide for disabled guests. I haven't read it myself, but I would hope they would tell you where the SAP entrances are.
miss bianca 10-06-2003, 06:28 PM wow thanks!! :D

Correction:
Autopia - Go through the exit, and ask the nearest CM, that will be standing by the Wheelchair lift.
Monorail - Use the elevator, located to the left of the Winner's Circle Autopia shop. WHen your on the top level, tell the nearest CM. ;)
I know for Star Tours, depending on how the condition of the person with the SAP is, they usually direct you to a doorway off to the left (to the right of the new que area) where you walk down a hallway to an elevator. The elevator takes you up to the lobby where a CM tells you which gate to go to. This comes in handy for wheelchairs and guests with walkers/canes so you don't have to push them all the way up that ramp.
MammaSilva 10-06-2003, 09:09 PM Actually, for the Matterhorn, there is a double gate system that is just at the unload area.. you go thru the first gate, wait at the second for the CM.... it's not the exit since it has turnstiles. Hope that helps.
PurpleDove33 10-07-2003, 01:55 AM Miss Bianca, for HMH if you have a wheelchair they have a que for them. Because they only allow three wheelchairs down there at a time. But if you have an SAP and can walk from the gate to where you get on the ride then they let you use the fastpass line. And believe me if I could walk that far without my crutches, I would have Saturday when I was there. I went with a friend whos pass was expiering this week, so he wanted to ride that a few times. He had a SAP and could walk, so he left me in the wheelchair line and rode it and I was still sitting in the same place in line when he came back. The only thing is if you need them to stop the ride because you can't deal with the moving floor, then you have to wait in the wheelchair line. And believe me it was long. I suggest when you get there in the morning to do that first. I waited in the wheelchair line for almost 2 hours. Anyway enjoy the ride.

But is that only for guests in wheelchairs or also for guests with SAPs? If both, then that must have changed since the last time I was on it, but then, it's been a few years. At that time, we did go through the Fastpass line with someone who had an SAP.

Again, it's been a few years, so things might have changed, but I do remember going in through the exit, which had a gate and turnstiles. I remember we had to step over to the side to let exiting people leave before we could get in the log. We also had to cut through the line of people waiting to get on the ride. I always found that to be odd.

I know the SAP does not guarentee that you board right away, but 2 hours seems excessive. I am so sorry to hear that you had to wait that long :crying:
The person I will be with can walk - just not stand for long periods of time due to leg problems.
Thank you all so much for your help! :)

This guide is also available as a PDF file that can be downloaded from the Disneyland website via the following link:

miss bianca 10-07-2003, 04:04 PM You guys ROCK!
Small correction on the Matterhorn. The mode of access depends on the nature of the disability.
If you are using a wheelchair and have a SAP, you wait in the normal queue until you reach the gate marked with the wheelchair symbol. THEN you pass through that gate, and wait at the 2nd gate for assistance.
If you are ambulatory and using an SAP, you go directly through the first gate, and wait at the 2nd gate for assistance.
The only time someone using a wheelchair should "cut" the line right to the gate is if they ALSO have a SAP specifying "no sun exposure" or a similar condition. But most people who use a wheelchair should use the regular queue as far as possible, just like Indy or RRCS.

Alright drawing a blank - what is RRCS?
Sorry - I type in shorthand. From the Big List o' Disney Acronyms:
RRCS - Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin.

miss bianca 10-07-2003, 06:14 PM Thanks - I know most of them, but that one stumped me :)
PurpleDove33 10-08-2003, 05:38 AM AVP, the last few times I have been on Indy they had me go thru the exit. The first time I went to go thru the normal fastpass line, they told me I couldn't go there because of some stairs. Which I always saw the stairs but there was a gate to let us thru to the elevator. So I am not sure why the changed the SAP or the wheelchair line thru the exit. Actually on Indy, I find the cue well themed and I don't know if they still have to room where the pole is and if you touch it the spikes comes down. It was always funny to watch peoples reactions when they had not idea that was coming. We always got a chuckle out of that.
