Okay, ...so I'm looking to buy a digital camera. I want to get a 256mb card to go with it, but I'm not sure how much 256mb weighs? I think it should hold about 200 pictures though, so how much does 200 pictures weigh?

Also, just wondering...does the weight of the card depend on what you put on it? i.e.: mp3's, pics, data?

First, the weight of the card doesn't depend on what you put in it. and Compactflash cards weigh like what half an ounce?

They all weigh the same no matter how much MB they can store.

There might be a slight difference in weight between a 256MB card versus one with lower capacity, but the difference probably couldn't be measured unless you used very precise scientific instruments. Any difference would be a fraction of a milligram. We are essentially talking about different quantities of microscopic transistors here.

My own recommendation is to figure out any special requirements you might have (in my case, 4MP or better, and storage on CF cards), then look for a recently-discontinued model that will fit your needs (I recently bought a Kodak 4900).

The only noticeable difference in weight between different capacities of memory cards is the amount of weight they'll remove from your wallet.

I know everyone is having a lot of fun with this, but I am sure by 'weight' he probably means CAPACITY...lol

256 can hold quite a bit of pics, but it's weight dosn't change when you add/subtract them (thats why my laptop weighed the same after I reformatted the HD)
