I have a Nokia 3595 cell phone with ATT. I live in SoCal. Where I live my phone gets no reception. Even outside it wont pick anything up. On the 3595 I have a GSM service where on my mom's phone here with digital not GSM works fine. If I drive 3 mins towards the major highway in my town it works amazingly. I'd like to be able to place a phone call from my house on my cellphone(long distance cheaper). For anybody who knows a lot about cell phones is there a way that I can boost my recption? Thanks so much everyone.:)

Generally, AT&T doesn't yet have as wide a coverage on their GSM/GPRS network as they do on the older TDMA network. I have a GSM/GPRS phone on AT&T and have definitely found that the coverage is more spotty than what my wife gets on her older AT&T TDMA phone.
I'm not familiar with your particular phone, but there are some antenna boosters out there that you might be able to track down. This is particularly likely if that phone has any kind of an external antenna port. The truth is, though, that if you are getting no signal whatsoever either inside or outside, the chances are that there isn't really anything you will be able to do at this time.
AT&T does claim that they are pretty actively expanding the GSM/GPRS network and that they don't expect it to be very long before the coverage is just as good as the old network. If you are patient, hopefully they will get another booster tower up in your area before too long. It probably wouldn't hurt to call them and let them know that you would like to see the coverage improve in your area. If they are getting enough requests, it could up the priority.

Thanks Jeff. You can really see how horrible it is to have a cellphone at home but no be able to check your voicemail(unless you call it externally) and cannot do work on it etc. I hope that ATT get some signal soon because I almost feel like switching.

Ahh, well, another good reason not to switch to GSL yet. Heaven knows I need full coverage. ;)

I have the same problem with Cingular. I've been assured that additional sites are going up in the next 3 months to boost the local signal. Of course, they told me the same thing 3 months ago, and the site they put up just a mile from my house didn't do a thing for the signal.
I've given up on Cingular. Verizon seems to have really good coverage in my area. When's the date when you're allowed to move your cell number to a different carrier? Isn't it in November some time? I hope it's early November! I can't wait to switch!

Darn, the new rule doesn't go into effect until November 24. And even then, it's supposed to take 2 1/2 hours before they can switch your number to a new carrier. Ugh, that's just what I need, sitting in a sales office for 2 1/2 hours waiting for them to switch my service.
