Help! I will be at Disneyland/CAP for 2 days with two 8 yr olds and a nonwalking 15 month old. On Day 2, I'll have another adult at the park to help me, but what do I do on Day 1? Are there rides that the 2 boys can go on by themselves? I know they aren't going to want to go on the "little kids" rides. And are there rides where all of us can go--ones the boys won't think are for the little kids?
Also, I'm thinking that we should go to DLR on Day 1. Yes? No? Any advice you all can give me is MOST appreciated!

Hi! :)
I know there is a minimum age requirement before children are allowed to go on rides alone. And then there is the maturity level and if they would know to not put their hands outside the vechiles.
There really are no *little kids rides* at Disneyland. Even the Fantasyland attractions are awesome for kids of all ages.
Pirates of the Carribean would be a ride they would like. I'm not sure how the little one would react. Same with Haunted Mansion.
I'm not a parent, I don't play one on TV and YMMV (your mileage may vary), but those are my thoughts :)

Well, here are some you can all do together:
Teacups (without g-force spin;) )
Storybook boats
Casey Jr.
Snow White
Pinochio
Carousel
It's a small world
Most of Toon town
Mark Twain
Pirates
Pooh
Train
Innoventions
As far as those rides that all four of you will not fit on, like Peter Pan, Mr. Toad, Dumbo, Mansion, Autopia...That's a tough one. My daughter was eight when we started letting her be in a ride vehicle by herself--like on Toad. We did this because when I would take my six year old and eight year old alone we couldn't all be in the same ride vehicle
My oldest girl is pretty mature, and the CMs never blinked an eye. I would tell her to wait by the exit if she got on first. It was never a problem. I'm sure other parents will weigh in on this, but you should be alright. :)
And yeah--DL for the first day. Have a nice time-

I agree that most of the rides are great for all ages. My 6 yr old and 18 mt old enjoyed most rides. My oldest even enjoyed the excuse to go on the "kiddy rides" i.e. its a small world more than once. You can save the rougher/scarier rides for the second day. Also wanted to say, my Dad took me to DL a few decades ago when I was young :D. and it is one of our best memories. He said Disney made it easy to be a good Dad. With three kids, it might not be easy, but it should be fun!

I think it depends on the muturity level of the 8 year olds. If you can tell them the rules and feel they will follow them, then they should be fine riding in the car a head of you. Maybe try the rules on a ride like Dumbo ( I think they have to be 7 to ride alone) and watch to make sure they keep their arms inside the ride vehicle and don't stand up...
In the dark ride you will have to really trust that they follow the rules. By 8 yrs old you should have a feel if you can trust them with the rules and such. Let them know that if the rules aren't followed and they mess around on the ride, the rest of the day will be spent in the hotel room. :p
There are plenty of rides that you will all enjoy. Once the other adult joins you, you can ride the coasters and make sure to understand the child swap features. This allow one of you to sit with the baby while the rest of the group gets in line and rides the ride, when the group exits, the person who was with the baby gets to take one person from the group and go up the exit of the rides (Sometimes the fast pass line) and get on the ride. So all adults can ride the ride and one of the 8 year olds can ride twice.
