View Full Version : Why isn't there a MouseAdventure in WDW? SouthflLady 09-18-2003, 01:39 PM Just wondering.. But then that would be the perfect reason for a business trip. But really, do you really want them to have the ability to send you to 4 different parks, not to mention the various resorts and such? Lani 09-18-2003, 04:23 PM Originally posted by cstephens But then that would be the perfect reason for a business trip. Matterhorn Fan is correct. We have Florida content writers, but writing articles about WDW is not the same as doing the kind of immersive work that is required to put together an event like MouseAdventure. cstephens, it's not that we haven't dreamt about this. But as soon as we start seriously looking at the logistics of it, it becomes nothing short of daunting. It's not just one business trip for one person; it's at least one trip for the crew (assuming our regular crew works the event), and that's upwards of over a dozen people easy, and multiple trips for the quest developers (either that, or an extended stay at WDW to do all the research required). And considering most of us have day jobs or other careers, taking the time out for something like this would require a lot of us to have to give up our own vacation days for what amounts to overtime work days for us. But we can still dream. :) innerSpaceman 09-18-2003, 04:42 PM So, um, why don't some of you Florida folks just organize your own MouseAdventure, calling it something else? Some friends of mine recently did a very similar thing that was a quasi-combination of MouseAventure and The Amazing Race, which took place all over Los Angeles and wiped out the contestants, who all had a ball. It took 10 people to organize and run the event and, ha, we had only 10 contestants (kind of like the guest-to-staff ratio at a really swanky resort). It definitely took a lot of work and multiple visits to the locations. I have new appreciation for the folks who put together MouseAdventure, but I also know now that you can sort of do-it-yourself. Sheila 09-18-2003, 04:50 PM Actually, there is something similar to MouseAdventure that is run in WDW. I'm not sure if it's going on this year, but it has been for several years previously. It's sponsored by the RADP folks (who have renamed their group to be more inclusive of all the other message boards, but I can't remember the name right now). The link at the top of the Lounge posted by Mike Scopa points to information on this annual mega-meet. The scavenger hunt is run over several days and covers all the parks. It's part of the big RADP meet that occurs annually in December. Hey! You've got time to get shape for that! Lace up them sneakers..... :D Sheila Mark Goldhaber 09-18-2003, 08:22 PM I kinda had that thought when I joined the staff here, but I'm not sure whether we could bring it off easily. I'm going to try to think of ideas while I'm there next month, but I have a feeling that it's not going to happen near-term. Of course, you should never say never! ;) DisneyFan25863 09-18-2003, 08:25 PM I would be happy to orginize one if someone paid for my airfare, roomage (no less than the master suite at the Grand Floridian! :D), food (Victoria and Alberts every night, no exceptions!), and park admission (Ultimate Park Hopper). :fez: :~D :geek: Main Street Magic 09-19-2003, 11:21 AM OK, and if you're looking to cut budget, I'll do it, but stay at Port Orleans Riverside! (I'll still need the ultimate park hopper and my evenings will be mainly spent at the Adventurer's Club!) :fez: |
