1) strollers ... bring HIS.. you can't take the rentals out of the parks :(
2) Choose the hotel you like best, at 2 he isn't going to care.
3) NAPS.. make the day go much smoother..
4) Plan your day around his schedule and go have a blast!

If you want to take your stroller back to your hotel, you must bring your own.
I highly recommend bringing your own stroller anyway. You don't mention how you're getting to the park but being from Oregon, I'll assume you're flying. You may find the stroller very helpful in airports because you can plop grandson in and have room to "push" diaper bags and such.
You also mentioned staying on property and being able to roll right to the hotel at the end of the day, along with your bags and sweaters, and you'll know that your grandson will fit right and be comfortable in it.

I actually think the DLH has more of a child-friendly atmosphere. I haven't stayed at either hotel with children myself but the DLH has a wonderfully themed swimming pool. You can still use it if you're at the GCH but it is not nearly as convenient. I think the DLH rooms are bigger than the GCH rooms, as well.

I've stayed at both the DLH and the GCH with kids. I find that the DLH is more kid-friendly and also the rooms are bigger, brighter and have more storage. But I also agree with Mamma that at 2 he or she may not care as much where he/she stays then if he/she was a bit older.
And I can't stress the nap advice too much-for all of you-not just the kiddo. A mid-day break is a must.

I actually just posted this on the previous thread, but I highly recommend, if you haven't already, scanning the titles of threads in this forum for a couple of pages. You will see lots of threads about going to DL with a 1 to 2 yr old with lots of great advice. My 18mt old didn't really "get it" at WDW- He enjoyed himself, but the Disney concept is too big for a 2 yr old. It was more of a series of nice things to look at and touch. However, having said that, as far as spending any length of time with a 2 yr old (never easy) this was the most relaxing time we had. Everything is so kid oriented. As long as you kick back-yes and take a nap!!- and just enjoy Disney at a 2 yr olds pace and perspective, you will have a great time. No need to go everywhere, do everything, stand in line for charactors, or the "exciting rides". Just be prepared to be singing "it's a small world" for a while after you get back. ;)

We have not go to DL yet but my son (27 mths) already singing "IT'S A SMALL WORLD" as lound as he can whenever my husband is driving. Because 'daddy' just love to play that song again and again so he can listen to his son sing.

Yen- that's actually a great point as well for taking a very young child to the parks. If you can connect them to something they will experience there- then they will be thrilled! Imagine when your son goes on its a small world. Oh wow. Also those park videos are fun with the songs in the different regions of the park. We've worn out our DL one and our disney stores are closed :crying: so I can seem to easily find more. One suggestion for Gremlin and the like is to send the grandchild a audio or videotape of something in the park. Something to go look for. It can also make the experience a little less overwhelming if there is something familar with it.
