View Full Version : Disney building a new park?
fairytalelover 09-02-2003, 10:18 AM I found the following information at coastnet.com
Is the Disney Co. eyeing up new land in the US for their next park set to open in 2008? The locations were narrowed down to one region in the US seeing as that Disney already has parks on the east coast in Florida, and on the west coast in California. Disney is looking to build a new theme park somewhere in the Midwest region. A few locations mentioned where just outside the Twin Cities in MN or just outside Milwaukee, WI. The location in Wisconsin would be about 2 hrs NW of Milwaukee in the Wisconsin Dells, a large tourest destination. Disney figures that this would be a good spot seeing that Cedar Fair and Six Flags both have parks within 5 hrs of the location. It would be a good competition area. Disney would still keep its theme of having a central figure in the middle of the park as a symbol. Some rumored names for the park are Disney's Mid-American Adventure, Disney's North Woods, and Disney's Dairyland Kingdom.'
I personally think that Disney should invest their money into improving the parks they already have before they start building a new one. What do you think?
Alex S. 09-02-2003, 12:52 PM I find it unlikely that they would build a full theme park in Wisconsin as it would essentially be a seasonal park.
The spending pressures would just be doubled as the period for ROI would be cut in half.
I think the persistent rumors about San Antonio or more likely (though, in my opinion, not likely).

Don't you think they should concentrate on fixing up their already existing parks first though.....like Tomorrowland and DCA?
sleepyjeff 09-02-2003, 08:27 PM Taco Bell and Pizza Hut along with Subway have opened up little mini stores inside of hundreds of mega-gas stations across this great land. Maybe Disney could open up little mini-parks at these stations too:)
Why take care of what we have when we can just build a new one somewhere else?
Not Afraid 09-02-2003, 08:35 PM I don't go fixing up the clothes I have. I go buy new ones.
I saw this article about Roy P. Disney sending a letter of intent to buy the rest of The Neptune Society, maybe the new park could incorporate cremation info...
no that is just morbid, wow.
I am sad, and I apologise...off to sleep is the reward.

So you are saying that instead of fixing Tomorrowland, we should just leave at barron as it is and pour our money into a brand new park?

Hmmmm. I reread what I wrote, and that wasn't what I said at all.

Well you said:
"I don't go fixing up the clothes I have. I go buy new ones."
To me that means that your "old clothes" are referring to the old parks and the "new ones" referrs to new parks. So it seems you are saying that you would rather not fix up the old parks and go buy new ones. If I am wrong than please explain your answer.

I am choosing not to explain my answer. I hope that is OK.

dshimel 09-03-2003, 01:49 PM The idea of Disney building a park in MN or WI is so silly that silly comments about buying clothing seem profound in comparison.
Most likely a rumor started by someone who lives in the area.
Further discussion is not worth the ink it would take. (Yes, it takes no ink to discuss silly ideas here, and this one is still not worth the ink that it would take.)
Yes, it would be nice if Disney spent money fixing up DL, Epcot WS, DAK.... It would be nice to win lotto (tough since I don't play). It would be nice of the Iraquis to stop blowing up our soldiers, people we've selected to lead them, and the oil pipelines. It would be nice if all those promises made by the 1990s tech start ups had come ture instead of leading to the largest wave of bankruptcies in history and a 70+% drop in the NASDAQ from high to post-high low.
Nice and reality are rarely similar.
