I recently re-installed my computer to its factory state. And, I have really noticed that my computer acts rrrrreaaalllllyyyy slow. Before I chose to re-install my computer, it would be normal. Even my internet is slow when I have cable. Whats going on? What is it I can do to make my computer work normally.

What I would suggest is first go to the Windows Update site and download all the recommended patches. I would also benchmark your computer using a website like:
www.pcpitstop.com
I use it to tune-up my machine. It will give you helpfull suggestion on how to fine tune your system.
On you Internet problem if you are dial-up you could try a modem string. The one string that seems to work for most modem is AT&F (make sure you type it in all CAPS). This command is know as the factory reset button for most Software Driven Modem.
Good luck!

Hello:
There are MANY reasons you might be having the problem you describe. Some of the first things that come to mind include:
* With a fresh un-patched system you caught the blaster worm. I've had systems up for less than 15min that caught it.
* Incorrect setting for virtual memory (page file). Check the settings. Control Panel->System->Advanced
* Bad driver, take the earlier suggestion and run windows update. Plus visit your vendors web site and see if they have any updated drivers.
* You can also (depending on your version of windows) launch the task manager and see if any process is taking up more than it's fair share of time.
If you still need more help, post your windows version, PC make and model, RAM, etc... and I'll see if anything sticks out..
Steve.

My computer is a Windows ME and made by Compaq. Where do I find how much RAM I have? Well, some how my computer is acting a bit more normal now but still can be slow.
But, now I noticed that sometimes when I Shut Down my computer it just restarts on its own. Not all the time, though. And, yes... I do check that it says Shut Down and not Restart. Is this the blaster worm? :crying:

You have ME, so Blaster shouldn't matter to you. You can find you RAM by going to Control Panel>System. It's listed right there :)

Hello:
Windows ME was always the runt of the Windows litter. Given the history of strange problems with ME I'd suggest either going back to Windows '98se or forward to Windows XP.
If that's not an option then you need to give ME as much RAM as you can. 256Meg or better.
If you decide to move to XP you should first verify that your PC will run it correctly. Microsoft has a site that can help with that:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/upgrading/advisor.asp

to see if anything sounds like the problems you are having.
