Knott's stagecoach crash all too real
Like a scene from a Western, brakes fail, killing horse, injuring theme-park riders.

(Wasn't sure where to put this one)

"BUENA PARK – A Knott's Berry Farm stagecoach re-enacted a scene out of the Wild West with far more realism than intended Monday as it careened out of control and ran into a fence, slightly injuring several passengers and killing one of the four horses.......

"At some point, the driver lost pressure in the brakes," said Kevin Norris, director of ride operations at Knott's.

The hydraulic braking system on the coach is operated by foot, similar to a car's braking system, Norris said, and it's used to slow the coach. When the coach did not stop at the station, the horses apparently took off, but it's unclear how fast they were moving.....

Two visitors and one employee went to a hospital for treatment and were released."

Thanks, justagrrl.

:( Poor horse. It must have been horrific.

And you would think nothing could go wrong with that ride.

I heard from an 'insider' that the horse was not killed outright and had to be put down.
Also this probably is the 'excuse' to eliminate this attraction and further dillute the 'old' Knott's flavor and ambience.
At least so say's the 'insider'.
