3. UNDERWATER EXPLORERS: Our SCUBA program for kids has been such a huge summer success that we're extending it on weekends through November (weather permitting). "Underwater Explorers" puts kids ages 8-13 in dry suits and SCUBA gear in our Great Tide Pool. Under supervision from our dive staff, participants get a closer look at sea life. No dive certification required. The fee is $59 per child, with a discount for aquarium members.

4. SHARKS: MYTH AND MYSTERY: Our next special exhibition will stretch the boundaries when it opens on April 2, 2004. "Sharks: Myth and Mystery" will explore how people from global cultures celebrate sharks and rays through art, dance, stories and other traditions. We'll be the first in the world to exhibit these diverse cultural traditions-and the animals that inspire them-under one roof. More than two dozen species of sharks and rays, and nearly a dozen different cultures, are included. Highlights: the first Galapagos sharks displayed outside Hawaii; Pacific electric rays, blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, puffadder shysharks, hammerhead sharks, and more; plus Australian aboriginal bark paintings, Pacific Northwest Haida tribal masks, Hawaiian hula, African initiation dances-even scenes from "Jaws" and the Saturday Night Live "Landshark".
